Frank Harris says that, yes, the bu$h twins should be serving

and inded, all other presidents should have to send their kids into the military during ther term.

http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0419-01.htm

"Since the president has been in the mood for a constitutional amendment, here's another: I move that there be a constitutional amendment that every president, before committing anyone else's sons and daughters to combat or a hostile situation, first pledge his own son and daughter to the war effort.

Regardless of age or occupation, a president's offspring should be pulled from whatever they are doing, sent to basic training, measured for a uniform and shipped out with a combat unit to the front line.

Yes, a tour of duty for the Bush twins.

A war made real, fretful and personal for those in power might make decision-making more thoughtful, reflective and considerate of everyone's life - with a reduced tendency to say, ``Bring 'em on.""

1. Frank Harris should
lay off the crack. Maybe Frank should have asked that the president's children go work in a sweat shop in Indonesia or whore themselves in Bangkok.

For Christ's sake give it a rest. There will be no reinstatement of the draft - there are too many millionaires with children in government office. Regardless of the politics of the press, it would not sit well to see so many of these kids sent to the millionaire's flight school in Texas.

Besides, Frank could send his leftovers to Rush to help him through the shakes.

4. I pretty much agree with whoever it is tho
Rhetorically it's mildly imaginative/creative.

Otherwise it's pretty much crap.

Edited on Mon Apr-19-04 03:24 PM by Mari333
there should be a draft asap
www.bushdraft.com
I think its time to wake their sorry asses up
if my kid has to stand there as a reservist, and doesnt believe in the damned thing, then so should theirs.
bring them all home now , or start drafting all those little soccer moms and millionaries kids.

in fact, the only people who should have their kids in this war should be republicans who support Bush . That includes those two drunks beget by the little Boy King.

5. It might do them some good
But they'd be more of a hindrance than a help.

6. They are not responsible
for their father's actions, and, if they are adults, he is not rersponsible for theirs. so they can join up if they wish to, but unless there is a general draft, how can we fairly make them join? And, besides, although it is easy to disagree with this president, it is his job to decide how to deploy American troops. Yeah, yeah, I know about Congress and declarations of war. But one reason the courts have obtained so much power is that Congress shirks its responsibilities. Presidents have obtained power the same way. a good argument for term limits, in my opinion.

7. No 1, he isnt the frigging president. No 2, he sent kids over
to the front lines of a fake war based on lies and he keeps changing the reason for being there.
Its fake, its horseshit, and there should be a massive lawsuit by the military families over this, and there will be.
believe me.
Hes not My frigging president.
Hes a fraud, this war is a fraud, and its time to bring the troops home.
Now.

9. #1, regardless of
HOW he got in, he IS the president. He does grasp the levers of power. The Marine Band plays "Hail to the Chief" to him. He signs and vetoes laws, he draws a salary from the US Treasury, he lives in the White House, and he issues orders to the US Armed Forces. He is the President. With a little luck, and a lot of work, maybe this time next year he won't be.

As for the lies, war, fraud, etc., I'm not going to argue with you, I don't particularly disagree with you. Lawsuit will fail. It's his job to deploy the troops in defense of America. whether he's right to do so in a particular situation, whether he was honest and competent is something for the American people to decide in November. But while he is there, he does have the power, whether you or I like it, and obviously we don't, or not.

8. ...and nephews, nieces, grandchildren...
Must be placed on the front line.

Same for every Congressperson who approves war.

You think Kerry would have voted for the IWR if his two daughters had to serve up front? It would take politics out of war votes.
