Chicago Sun-Times: Woodward issue page 24 |
|
Edited on Mon Apr-19-04 03:15 PM by linazelle
I don't normally read this paper but the paper boy threw a (complimentary?) copy in my yard today. I read the headlines while waiting for the elevator this morning.
Front page headlines: SPAIN PULLS TROOPS FROM IRAQ Attic Wall Collapse kills man :eyes:
Page 2: House wall collapses (cont'd.) Voice lifts, the new plastic surgery :eyes:
Page 3: School sells naming rights to meet budget 11 Glenbrook students avoid expulsion for hazing
The paper continues like this until page 24 when one column reads: Bush aide denies war decision came early.
Nothing about the misappropriation of $700 million.
I'm in the process of writing a letter to this worthless piece of trash to tell them not to ever litter my front yard again with this tripe.

1. And I wonder if, in June of '72... |
|
They buried the Watergate break-in as a "Third-rate burglary"?:eyes:

5. Actually, I think they did |
|
The watergate story took many months to build and gain attention. The break-in was a few months before the 72 election and Nixon did not resign until August of 74.

2. What's the big deal about $700 million |
|
I mean, it's not like it's a blue dress. Just be thankful this great paper exists. :D
Best of luck in your letter writing.

3. And the Sun Times was the liberal alternative to the TRIB! |
|
:-)
you have got to love the Dallas Morning News today calling for the print media to admit their liberal bias.

4. I occasionally get the "Some-Times" to read the scores.... |
|
that's about it.
Even when they print the truth about something, it's usually about 3 weeks late, or it appears on page 24.
The LTTE's are usually pretty good though.
What do you expect from Hollinger?

6. My Rocky Mt. News didn't mention it at all. |
|
And the Denver Post ran a story just about the Colon Powell disagreement.
I was really surprised. Maybe tomorrow there will be more about the whole book.

We should get Janet Jackson to write "misappropriation of $700M" across her chest and flash it on national tv.
seriously...think maybe Janine Garafolo(sp?) or Alnais Morrisett would be willing to do such a thing?

10. Oh yeah--Novak's column is there, todays topic interesting |
|
Novak' column is on page 49, entitled: Specter's friends are Bush bashers
Talks about Arlen Specter, Senator, PA, who has among his list of supporters, George Soros and liberal organizations including the firefighters and teamsters unions, Alan Dershowitz, Harold Ickes, Jr. former Clinton aide, Ben Veniste. Seems Specter's been a long time organizized labor supporter.
Specter's name has been bandied about as a future Supreme Court justice by Sen. Schumer of New York. Novak's point: Bush supports any rep with an "R" by their name--no matter who their friends are.

11. OK so here's my letter: how does it sound? |
|
I don't normally read the Sun Times. I guess a lot of other people don’t either because I got a promo copy in my front yard today. I read the headlines while waiting for the elevator this morning and was astounded at how little news you actually provide. No wonder you are starving for customers.
At a time when it has been revealed that the president misappropriated $700 million for the war in Iraq, your headlines focus on minor incidents like an attic wall collapse, voice lift surgery, school naming and hazing….??? These title appear in the first three pages of the April 19th paper and a small story about Condiliezza Rice refuting claims Bush ordered the war in November 2001 is buried on page 24.
What’s more important? If you cannot tell, that a premeditated war costing lives by the thousands, based on lies, and now funded by illegal tax dollars is more important than almost everything on the first three pages of your paper, then you should be able to understand why a lot of people don’t bother to buy the paper. My only request is that you never, EVER, litter my front yard with such biased, complicit trash again.
