Does it make sense to fax your comments to politicians? |
|
In another thread there was a discussion of how to communicate with Congresscritters. Emails are generally viewed as lightweight because they're so easy to mass-send. Snailmail has traditionally been a more weighty medium because it's tangible and takes some effort plus the cost of a stamp, but some posters were wondering whether people are afraid to open envelopes these days, what with anthrax, letter bombs, and God-knows-whatall. Someone else pointed out that you can just fold the letter itself, tape it on an edge and send it, so that the recipient can easily see that it contains nothing threatening. That's fine, but what about faxing letters with signatures? Anybody know how faxes stack up to the other communication methods in terms of the weight placed on them by political recipients?

1. A professional lobbyist told me that was the most effective way. |

Written mail takes too long to get there, but it is still the best option. Emails and faxes are in the same category - both are very easy to mass-produce, hence the term "blast faxes".
