OMFG: CNN/Gallup numbers are truly nauseating/inexplicable
just heard Wolf and Schneider in a two man circle-jerk, slobbing off to the very latest numbers, which are astounding:

chimpsimp: 51
Kerry.......46

can you believe that?

they couldn't, either, after ticking off all the very bad things that have happened to the junta, even the Woodward revelations, I believe

really makes me sick

I know, it's early, but you should have seen the looks on their faces

1. Yet another poll
Within the Margin of Error. Gallup always seems to have a knack of overestimating Bush, so don't think too much of this.

3. Big deal. They spent $40 million on ads and got a few percentage bump
Overall I think the numbers don't look too bad for now.

4. Kerry would be ahead if
he wasn't moving to the far right on every issue.
Kerry fucked up when he sided with Sharon.

5. A Repug friend of mine who had just started to turn to Kerry called me and
Edited on Mon Apr-19-04 04:39 PM by KoKo01
said they were so upset with him on MTP because they are upset over what's going on in Iraq. This person thinks the economy is fine but couldn't stand the pictures and stories coming out of Iraq.

Now he's thinking Kerry is the same as Bush. I said, NO! I don't support what he said on MTP, but he has to seem as strong as Bush. It just didn't go over well when I said that. This person is a Repug and doesn't have the background to understand Democratic Social Programs. I couldn't get into a lecture about how Kerry is better on Environment and all the other stuff. All this person cared about was the "War."

I think I've lost them..

On Edit: Hell...Kerry almost lost ME yesterday on MTP so how can I explain this? Public thinks things are great in Iraq and give Bush good numbers but Repug friend doesn't like the war and wants to vote for Kerry but was disappointed on his stand?

9. I agree with you. I think he's continuing to make a huge mistake
He shoulda voted against the IWR. He would now be perfectly situated. He should have KNOWN that this would all be a giant clusterfuck. Anyone who studied it without rose colored glasses came to that conclusion.

I know repukes who really really really don't think the war was a good idea and are looking for an alternative. They don't see it with Kerry.

sigh.............

(I miss Howard) ;(

6. I would have expected him to get a bump after the press conference.
He was so bunkered up in Crawford that many in the public might have thought he had passed.

7. CNN poll results
This could be the result of the incessant "Kerry wrong on defense"
attack ads from Bush/Cheney. They play on CNN all the time.
I heard $50 M on this ad campaign alone. The initial reports that
the attack ads being ineffective may be wrong. Kerry needs to
a) get to the punch line a lot quicker when giving a speech,
b) start doing his own debunking ads
c) have a policy that isn't based on not losing votes (can't piss
off the Jewish voters, so I agree with Bush on Israel, now that
we are in the war, we need to stay the course and bring in the UN
- which is what Bush is saying now, etc).

A and B are extremely important, especially if he won't do C.

13. OK, Don't Panic...

But I gave Kerry $1K so far, and I didn't expect him to align with
Bush and Sharon on the Palestine issue. I also expected him to
start matching * ad for ad. Bushco has been doing a great job of
self destructing in the last few weeks starting with the Clarke book
and testimony. I would almost expect that 60 percent of public
opinion would be against * now with his astoundingly pathetic
new conference last week. The Woodward revelation about Bandar being
so cozy (I've read House of Bush/House of Saud - and this the
Woodward stuff is just the tip of the iceberg) with Bushco should
be icing on the cake... almost to the point of resignation like Nixon.

14. I/m really afraid you're right
I've read that the election is already over; that Kerry will not be able to define himself now; they've already done it: flip-flopping, tax-raising, soft on defense/natsec LIBERAL.

all the typical smears that have always worked in the past, with one exception, and that was when the economy sucked donkey,

if the media keeps up the charade, I'm, well, not exactly optimistic

that said, all holy HELL is going to break loose in July/Aug, with the handover, then, the release, (if they allow it) of the Warren report, whitewash that it is (plenty of nasty stuff in there, like WJC's hand/annotated PDBs, opposed to dumbo's never-read ones)

so, as always, I balance on the edge of depression/hope for the future
