Bush gets coveted Wayne Newton Endorsement
We may as well give up now. What we all feared has come to pass- yes, political genius Wayne Newton says he is going to vote for George W. Bush.

He said that Kerry just wasn't the guy to protect our country, and that George Bush is. Either Newton hasn't been paying very careful attention to current events, or he thinks starting needless, distracting wars is what passes for national defense these days.

1. Ugh! Ugh!
I just posted a thread on Crossfire. It was obnoxious today and Newton was disgusting!

4. And if the Phrase...
Whoopty-f@*&ing-do didn't already exist, we'd have to invent it for this.

What is it with some people? A man who served with distinction in Vietnam, with a long, successful and respected career in the Senate, articulate, educated, thoughtful, and can not only name but probably spell the names of world leaders can't protect our country better than W? Thanks for playing Wayne.

13. WAYNE AND GEORGE DIDN`T SERVE IN `NAM, JOHN KERRY
did and with distinction as you stated. This admin.s record regarding military matters is the worst I know of. They do not listen to people such as Richard Clarke and Gen. Zinni ,who spent thier adult lives serving our Nation, but to neocon talking heads like themselves and the situation only gets worse. We need a John Kerry and a Wes Clarke to find a way out of the military mess we find ourselves in today. I do take heart that the BUSHIES are having to turn to the likes of Wayne Newton as thier celebrity supporters. That guy was third rate in his prime 35 years or more ago. Go Democrats, ...Oscar

15. Welcome to DU Oscar
and thank-you for your service to our country. Not only does this administration exploit our armed forces in a false war, what they are doing to veteran's services and the overall moral in the military (pay, benefits, length of tours, etc.) is just wrong.

24. Appriate the welcome PopSixSquish
It is my belief the Bushies are becoming increasingly vulnerable amongst Service men and women and Vets for all the reasons you stated and others. I read a recent poll re: South Carolina wich had Kerry with a slight lead. I believe it was an American Research Group poll. This is good news. Keep the faith and thanks again. ...Oscar

boy o boy, the Xfire was a useless POS today. Not a moment to spare to comment on the Woodward charges.

That couldn't have been deliberate, could it? (sarcasm off)

Up against the spritely sugary Dominique, Danke Schoen must've sounded like a welcome dose of raw metallic hip hop.

18. Hey, Wayne Newton is no laughing matter
How this biscuit-soft guy managed to parlay one novelty hit into a run as Chieftan of the Vegas Strip, eclipsing Dead Elvis and the Mighty-Toupeed Frank Sinatra, is a baffling mystery. If it weren't for Siegfried and (Tastes Like Chicken!) Roy, Wayne would be as ubiquitous and scary as puckered-anus-mouthed Donald Trump. Be properly thankful for calamities averted :)

8. Oh nooo
Say it ain't so.

Seriously though, Newton has always had that rare measure of self-awareness that let's him lampoon his greasy Vegas-lizard image without melting down from the dissonance. Oh well, I'm disappointed, he'll just be shallow celebrity #13,248 whom I'd hoped could do better.

11. I hoped he'd hold out endorsing, but there was too much clout involved.
Folks this is not the best news.

I mean lets cut to the chase, what bigger household name could you hope to gain for an endorsement?

Mr. Clean?......well maybe, but even then, Clean is apolitical and Ive heard doesnt give out endorsements.

Yeah, no doubt, this is gonna makes things a little tougher.

And Wayne's musical style fits Dubya, Laura and Condi better than it fits Kerry's band-of-brothers, doncha think?
