New Zogby Poll Kerry leads 47-44
New Zogby Poll Kerry leads 47-44, the last Newsweek poll Kerry leads by 7. Stop all of this panic because one outlier poll shows something different. Gallup has been behind Zogby for years now. Just because they been around so long doesnt make them the king of polls. Remember in 2000 they had daily polls that swung 10 points a day.

Sen. John Kerry holds a three-point lead (47% to 44%) over President Bush among likely voters, according to a new Zogby International poll. Despite huge ads buys, there has been no change in these numbers over the past month.

"When Independent candidate Ralph Nader is added, Kerry and Bush are statistically tied with 44.7% for Bush, 45.3% for Kerry, and Nader with 3%."

Says pollster John Zogby: "Kerry’s margin over the President with independents should be cause for concern in Bush campaign circles -– especially after their advertising blitz."

2. YES!
And we should send them the last 4 or 5 other national polls that demonstrated the same trend, UP for Kerry, DOWN for *.

6. Three words: Check the sample.
It's possible that CNN is using a different sampling technique. In fact, I'd say it's likely.

7. I don't know that this make Zogby any better, but I took that poll
either Fri or Sat, I don't remember which day.

Most of us always wonder who in the world they poll on this stuff, so I can at least tell you that I was one of the people they polled.

The other good (I think)point is that this was taken BEFORE the 60 Minutes scandal. I'll be curoius to see what effect that has either later in the week or next Monday.

9. There will be news stories saying Kerry doesn't stand a chance.
Consider the source. I saw a story last week saying that Bush's poll numbers remain strong and the country is behind the war in Iraq.

These stories are out there as political propaganda I think. They are meant to keep people in the fold and to discourage us from voting.

10. For Bush to be tied or behind rather than ahead right now is really bad
for him. Incumbants should never be this weak this soon.

11. Especially an incumbent fighting a war
In war time the country usually rallies around a President, IF the war is justified.

The fact that Kerry and Bush are basically tied, even after Bush spent $40 million in ad money smearing Kerry with lies, is bad news for Bush.
