Comic Strip Characters Lose Legs in Iraq War
http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGAX27359TD.html

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A main character in the "Doonesbury" comic strip will lose a leg while fighting in Iraq, one of two strips published this week that feature soldiers getting injured in the war.

In Monday's "Doonesbury," B.D., a football coach-turned-soldier, was injured after being reactivated in the Army at the end of 2002, following a losing football season.

Later this week, he will wake up to find his left leg amputated, according to Universal Press Syndicate, the strip's distributor.

"Doonesbury" creator Garry Trudeau said he wanted to illustrate the sacrifices American soldiers are making.

"It's a task any writer should approach with great humility, but I think it's worth doing," Trudeau said. "We are at war, and we can't lose sight of the hardships war inflicts on individual lives."

2. But...but...he endorsed Bush*!!!
(Only because the Bush* administration has been giving him soooo much good material for the past 3/5 years.)
Trudeau's equally fair to both sides, but he's been pretty harsh against Bush* lately. I love it.

6. not to worry
no doubt a president Kerry would give Trudeau plenty of material too.

judging by the news of the last few days where Kerry echoed Bush's positions on the war in Iraq, and Sharon's assassination of Rantisi.

4. Get Fuzzy did something like that too
Robbie (the owner of Bucky and Satchel) got a call from his dad and told Satchel that his cousin had his leg cut off in the fighting in Iraq.

7. You might want to add the word "spoiler" to your heading
I really wish I hadn't hit this thread. I'd rather have found out naturally.

Just a thought, not criticism.

8. Get prepared for repug letters to the editor
They always swamp our paper whenever Doonesbury or Boondocks gets "controversial"
