Imagine if DU, Kos, Atrios, TPM, Prospect, and Tom Paine...
Edited on Mon Apr-19-04 06:55 PM by sugarman
readers decided to stop watching CNN for one day. We need to organize a boycott of a major news network for one day. Those of us on the internet probably make a sizeable percentage of people who watch CNN and MSNBC. If we can organize a boycott, the networks will respond.... Why can the Christian Coalition and the Jewish community routinely organize boycotts, while we with a much larger percentage of the American population (at least greater 51%) cannot do the same. Let's organize a boycott of CNN. Here's how:

....Say that day was May 23rd. Here's how we can do this...

1. Email the DU adminstrator to get behind the idea and post this idea on the DU forum regularly to get others to get behind the idea.
2. Email you favorite blogger to get behind the idea
3. Email moveon.org to get behind the idea
4. Email Henry Waxman and other liberal Dems to get behind the idea
5. Email Ralph Nader to get behind the idea (I know he sucks, maybe he can do something useful)
6. Tell everyone you know to do the same.

5. readers of those sites are news junkies
And yes, it will register on the Nielsen ratings as long as liberals have nielson boxes at the same percentage of the overall population. My family has a nielson box, and they'll take part..Moreover, we can generate enough buzz that the networks will be a little more wary of being Bush's lap dog. Already, I think discontent on the part of liberals has had an impact of bringing coverage a little more to the center...
