Fineman on Hardball: 2 GREAT questions re: Woodward book: |
|
Tweety fully agreed with these points (it was a terrific show re: Bush's mistaken rush to war in Iraq)
1) Why hasn't Tenet been fired? If WMD's were really THAT important in going to war with Iraq, then Tenet should have been OUT . . . . 2) Why doesn't Colin Powell resign -- or is he gradually resigning via the Woodward book?

3. 1) WMD's didn't matter, or 2) Tenet never really said "slam dunk" |
|
It's got to be one of the two, doesn't it? Cause if WMD's were REALLY Bush's primary reason to go to war (which I doubt) and Tenet REALLY told Bush he had a "slam dunk" case that Iraq had WMD's, and Bush went to war on Tenet's "slam dunk" remark, Tene should have been hung.
Personally, I don't think Bush cared if Iraq had WMD's or not -- or if Tenet's assessment was correct or not -- I believe that Bush and Cheney had long planned to find any reason to go to Iraq. So Tenet made a mistake about WMD's, so what?
