Here's what I think the Bushies are doing with regards to Woodwards's book |
|
Edited on Mon Apr-19-04 08:22 PM by glarius
They think that most of the people who vote for Bush won't read the book anyway, so they are giving it a thumbs up....Several Republican talking heads have been on CNN already, saying except for minor disagreements, it's a good book...That way they think that their faithful flock will think it must be alright or the Republicans wouldn't be recommending it.....Does this make sense?
edidt:It's 9:20PM....I'm watching woodward on Larry King....He's giving a whole different slant on his book here than what I saw on 60 Minutes...What a phony!

2. No character assasination of Woodward. |
|
They have realized that accepting the book will make it and the issues melt like snow in the hot sun. Attacking Woodward would be counter productive. Powell and Woodward worked this all out rom the start.

12. Heh... I refuse to "soil my beautiful mind" ~~chortle~~ |
|
However, there were a couple of threads about it, so I'm just curious why the assertion would be that everyone was comfy with Woodward.

5. Or maybe, stuff that bothers DU-ers just make the base love W more |
|
Have you tried to get in their mindset? Righteous W, wanting to liberate the world, listening to the higher daddy in the sky! tears in his eyes, talk with God - only days after the elitist liberal press attacked him so badly!

13. don't forget dissing Powell |
|
the neo-cons hate Powell, so that story a big plus to them.
You are right about the appeal to the Pat Robertson crowd.

9. You are right. Unless Congress starts squeaking...which they won't |

Woodward's book is irrelevant except to the true lovers of freedom and justice.

Noticed the same thing, they are saying .."it is a good book but we just have minor disagreements".
They know that they can't smear Woodward, it would be too obvious and they can't say he is lying, they have already used both strategies too much with the others like Clarke.

7. Bartlett is already on record saying that Woodward lied |

The 700 million, the Saudi war plan sharing and the oil price fixing, all lies according to Bush spokesman, Bartlett.

Remember when Pee Wee Herman fell off of his bike in front of all of his friends after showing off (From Pee Wee's Big Adventure). After Pee Wee landed most ungracefully on the ground at the feet of his friends, he looked up and said, "I meant to do that." In this example, Bush is playing the part of Pee Wee. We, the masses, are the people watching.
This book sucks so bad for the WH, they are trying a Clinton trick (only Clinton is better, smarter, and on the right (meaning left, of course) side of things. They try to turn around bad news to make it appear to be good news. Except they are such goombas, they can't do it. I'm sure they are real excited about the revelation that Bush negotiated with our good friends, the Hi-Jackers, I mean Saudis, to doctor oil prices to keep Bush in office. AGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH
