9. Earlier on CNN

They said the WH claims to have needed $750 mil for secretly getting ready to go into Iraq, but they knew they had to wait on that, so used only $178 mil, which was allowable. In other words, the WH is saying they didn't go behind the back of Congress, they did nothing wrong.

I hope that's found to be untrue, I so want them locked up!

11. Woodward details accuracy of his reports -- he was cautious
If any report was second-hand or hear-say, Woodward says he went to the actual participant to confirm the second-hand report. Per Woodward, all of his sources are first-hand and most (or maybe all) of them are on tape.

Just saw that clip of Bush announcing the invasion of Iraq.
Notice the neocon-speak. Saddam was not waging war...the US was.
If anything, Bush should have said to "undermine Saddam's ability to DEFEND himself."

He said tht there are a few points that are somewhat wrong but in general, the book is favorable to Bush. He said he thought Bush would like it.

I just don't wnat everyone to be disappointed when they read it or when the neocons start praising the book.

edit for spelling

<At least four companies are foreign-owned: Sequoia (UK), Accenture/Election.com (UK Bermuda), EVS (Japan), and N.V. Nederlandsche Apparatenfabriek (Netherlands). Election.com was formerly owned by Osan, Ltd., a Saudi Arabian firm. Many voting machine companies appear to share managers, investors, and equipment which raises questions of conflict-of-interest and monopolistic practices. >

44. Woodward....
passing the blame to the CIA for the faulty intelligence....I only wish I could ask Woodward about this. Woodward says that the intelligence said that Saddam had WMD so Bush did not lie and mislead....but that is not the point at all. I would say to Woodward that before October 2002 the NIEsaid "maybe," "perhaps," "possibility"
that Saddam had some amounts of WMDs but it was not sure. Then all of a sudden everything changed in 2002 in the NIE....why the hell was that Mr. Woodward? Can you saY OSP and the White House Iraq Group led by Mary Matalin and Karen Hughes. Plus, there was no mention in any intelligence reports that Iraq has unmanned drones that could reach our country, no intelligence that said Iraq was "close" to obtaining nuclear weapons, uranium from Niger, alluminum tubes, mushroom cloud, 911 connections, etc....These were all lies by Bush and Woodward simply dismisses it and passes the blame for these lies to Tenet! DISGUSTING!

Woodward just said to the Prince that he got the info about not telling Powell about the war decision until after he had Rummy and Cheney brief Bandar FROM BUSH HIMSELF. (Long sentence, I know.) Damn, Powell was interviewed on Hannity and Colmes and said that he was in on the planning of the war, he was "in the loop". So what the hell is the real story? I was surprised when Woodward said he got that info straight from Bush.

However I thought he was doing his best to be neutral.

It seemed strange to me because I am so used to the current day "reporters" opining every chance they get.

I don't see how this helps Bush, I also wondered if all this parsing by the WH isn't pissing him off?

He was none to happy with Bandar.

with me. Just listen to him whore for the administration. "Tenet revitalized the CIA" and "he fixed the CIA" ahhh wasn't it just news that it would take years for the CIA to get up to speed?" And in the next breath he says the CIA was wrong about WMD. Which is it?? He doesn't say anything that isn't favorable for the administration. Some of it confirms what we believe but it does so in a light most favorable to bush. He gives bush way too much help. Woodward just asks about getting Bandar on the phone like he requested it.

being one of the few true journalists in this mess.

He is not taking sides, just reporting the facts as he sees them.

there are MANY things in his book, and statements that are very damning to the Bush admin.

He is the type of journalist who could get you what you want....Independents and Moderates to question Bush.
