I'm watching Nightline and they're talking about Woodward's book. Something about Cheney and Powell not talking.

So, when did the Vice President become important enough to talk to anybody? Yeah, we all joke about who the real President is, but the VP doesn't speak for the President, and any VP who gets into a fight with a cabinet officer is supposed to be slapped down. Hard.

That sort of thing just doesn't happen. Has any VP in the past ever thrown such power around without being called on it? Would any dare?
