Can you teach CREATIONISM to a ROBOT? |
|
We are experiencing a severe rise in religious fundamentalism at the same time we are beginning to use nanotechnology and make clones and explore Mars.
We are re-debating the existance of dinosaurs while we have robots that can run and play chess and many other things we aren't even told about.
I spent yesterday with some of my very religious relatives. The way they speak about Bush and our immoral secular world...wow. They, like all fundamentalists, have been terrifyingly empowered by BushCo.
I know many of the people here see the madness in our current situation. I just can't believe it sometimes. I have been expecting my head to explode for over two years straight now.

1. You could probably teach a robot to evangelize |
|
As to whether it would believe its own rhetoric... well, that cuts more to the question of whether a robot can hold an abstract belief at all.
Either way, there would be fundamentalists ready to buy preacher robots like hotcakes. They may deny the possibility of evolution, but I've never seen one turn down antibiotics...

#include <stdio.h>
int main(void){
char input_array<256>; int i; printf("Evolution works. Your response? "); scanf("%s",input_array);
/* ignoring input */ /* output automatic response */ for(i = 0;i<10;i++) printf("Nope, I'm not listening! It's creationism or nothing!\n");
return 0; }
See? It's really quite a simple program! :)
