Conversations overheard in an ICU waiting room last night... |
|
My uncle was in for some surgery and we were sitting in the ICU waiting room last night a conversation started about the price of gasoline amongst the members of an extended family in the seating area adjacent to us. It began with comparing prices for gasoline by people coming in from various parts of the country, the highest being $1.90/gal in some city (sorry, can't remember which one right now). Anyway, one of that group said something about the prices being ridiculous and artificial, and said that sometime around the election the prices would come down. One of the women interjected that this would occur about the beginning of October. A male family member said, "Yeah, they'll try to prop * up so he'll win the election." By this time people were migrating over to this family's area and * ended up getting a severe verbal thrashing all around. Some of the group admitted having voted for him in the past but were going to vote to make sure he is not elected in November.
I just sat and smiled and tried to stay awake.

I know some people (more, actually, since *'s 'press conference') who voted for him last time but are into the ABB camp now! :bounce: Encouraging news, especially the realization about inflating/deflating gas prices!!

2. This is what I am saying about the bullcorn polling..... |
|
People are buying into these polls as if they are scientific AND independent, even though it's obvious who CNN works for, for example.
Bush is NO WHERES on the charts right now... but as long as they tell us that 'other people' are all for this crap... people seem to believe it, irrespective of their best sense.

that Bushco and their sycophants are buying into the propoganda they are spewing about King George's popularity, which ranks right up there with a full diaper at the breakfast table imho.

4. People ARE talking about this election. |
|
The Chimp is not looking too good in those conversations, either.
I was in a quicky mart yesterday and the lady working behind the counter saw my "Bush Lied" button on my purse and said, "Man, I WANT one of those." (Oddly enough, that same button made a lady scream at me in a grocery store a month or so ago!)
What began as a comment by that lady yesterday became a ten minute conversation about Iraq and the lies that have come out of this White House. What amazed me was the number of folks who came by during the discussion and not only agreed--but actually added comments in support of sending shrub back to Texas.
I walked out of there feeling some optimism--that maybe the rest of the nation IS paying attention to the news, and maybe they WILL be motivated to vote this November. There is not a lot of support for shrub out there, in spite of whatever polls run on the networks, and in spite of the talking heads who say he's gonna win.
One thing did scare hell outta me, however, and that was the comment that same lady made about Kerry. She feels he's some "rich dude" who will never understand what it is to work for a living.
BTW, Skidmore, I do hope your uncle is doing OK.
