SURVEY: what's your choice for Bush's Campaign Swan Song.
We are all familiar with campaign rally songs. Bill Clinton chose Fleetwood Mac's "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow." John Kerry chose U2’s "Beautiful Day."

But often ignored is the campaign swan song. What song would motivate you at a Bush anti-rally (you know, the kind where a cardboard figure of Bush is set up in front of a microphone, with a crowd of hundreds jeering him on, holding placards, with coverage by C-Span, etc.)?

My Three Choices:

Gary Glitter's Rock N Roll Part 2, The Hey Song

Scandal's Goodbye To You (fitting group name)

Steam's Na Na, Hey Hey, Goodbye

12. If it can't be what BES said: "Won't get fooled again."
While I like Daltrey's scream and all, I didn't vote for the Little Turd from Crawford.

"There's a saying in Tennessee. I know we have it in Texas. Fool me once (brief pause), shame on (pause) you. Fool me twice (pause) shame on (pause)... You won't get fooled again."*

* From memory. Sorry I can't find the original right now. Got some nice links, though:

16. DEFINATELY, "Won't Get Fooled Again"
"Wont Get Fooled Again" (Whos Next)

We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again

The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
No, no!

I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?

There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

13. LOL
Hi,

There was a song...similar lyrics popular in Europe between 1972-75.
I don't remember who sang it but the chorus was:

You're breaking my heart, you broke my heart so f*ck you!

Haven't thought about that song for a long, long time.

Cheers,
Kim

8. Go Now by the Moody Blues
'Spitting Image', the UK satirical puppet show, did a great version in the last year or so of Thatcher. With, I think, the Queen playing bass.

9. MOODY BLUES - Question
Question

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door?
With a thousand million questions
About hate and death and war.

It's where we stop and look around us
There is nothing that we need.
In a world of persecution
That is burning in it's greed.

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door?
Because the truth is hard to swallow
That's what the wall of love is for.
