surround the white house, stop buying gas for one week....
Edited on Tue Apr-20-04 10:06 AM by mopaul
it's our white house, not theirs. we are, 'we, the people', they work for us, they are our employees, not monarchs who sit above we the people. and 'voting them out' next election is a mantra that just makes me vomit. as if!

when communism fell, over 2 million souls surrounded the soviet union's seat of power, called the white house, and peacefully removed the offending infection, and not a drop of blood was shed.
it's a fact.

we could do the same. begin an actual physical presence of protestors to camp out around the white house, a constant supply of new protestors, rotating round the clock, in ever growing numbers.

most folks of course dont' want the inconvenience of missing work, or other 'hardships' required to pull it off.

and i suggest a moratorium on gasoline. simply set a date, and refuse to buy any gasoline for one week. this single act would bring them to their knees in panic. hit them in the pocketbooks, where their hearts truly are. they'd pay attention to that.

these are not the kind of men who can be reasoned with folks. they are cornered now too, and they are very dangerous. they bring us closer to world war three with every passing hour, we are seriously on the brink of total meltdown, with these cockroaches at the helm.

surround the white house? what are you smoking? stop buying gas for a week? have you taken your meds? voting them out next november? maybe you should see a shrink.

.......and now, my warthog will dance for you...........

1. Sounds good.
Sign me up. At the very least, you'd think we could pull off a nationwide strike of some sort. The madness has GOT to stop before it's too late.

6. A thousand mile trip begins with the first step
If just one person would show up for a protest of these thugs then more would follow and soon the dam would burst. At least half of America is ashamed and wants this Cabal gone.

8. Do we HAVE a couple million people ready and willing?
Edited on Tue Apr-20-04 10:16 AM by beam_me_up
I have no idea. I kind of doubt it.

I don't doubt we have millions of people who are fed up with the Bush administration and are more than ready to "vote him out of office." But that statement is a LONG WAY from what you are proposing. The people I'm speaking about still believe that the system works, still believe that the people in power WILL leave peacefully IF they are voted out.

I AGREE WITH YOU. I have NO ILLUSION that people who would perpetrate a high crime of state--such as stealing an election, such as perpetrating a murderous attack on American citizens, such as launching military attack on two Muslim nations--WILL GO PEACEFULLY.

The problem is this: THEY HAVE THE MEDIA. They also have MOST (perhaps not all) of our armed forces. Perhaps worst of all, THEY HAVE MOST AMERICANS HOODWINKED.

People like you and I, MO, are the exception. Most people, even here at DU, think we're a little "nuts"--that our point of view is "extreme." According to them, we can't PROVE our accusations, so what the hell are we talking about?

All evidence to the contrary, THEY still believe the system works, they still believe that Congress represents the will of the people, they believe our news media is "free" and is in the business of "reporting" the news, they still believe that George W. Bush IS the President of the United States (however ridiculous that notion is to us), even if he may have achieved that office under suspicious circumstances, even if he may have proved himself repeatedly to be a lying, delusional moron, they still believe the events of 9/11 were caused by fundamentalist Muslims even though, other than people holding government positions telling them this repeatedly there is almost NO EVIDENCE to back up those assertions, even though there has been NO INDEPENDENT, COMPLETE AND TRANSPARENT investigation of those heinous events and the hundreds of peculiar coincidences surrounding them
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=1440000&mesg_id=1440000
even though the alleged perpetrator remains at large, even though our own Constitution has been eviscerated because of them, even though we have bombed and raped one nation in pursuit of those alleged perpetrators, even though we and the world were lied to repeatedly and continuously for a year to lead our nation to preemptively attack, rape and plunder yet another Middle East nation. . .

Yes, despite ALL THAT and much much more that we do not know because it is clasified, because it is ignored by the media, because we are told "only 'nut cases' think that way," most people, even here at DU, think what we are dealing with are just "politicians." They don't see them as you and I do, MO, as MURDEROUS CRIMINALS THAT ONLY FEIGN ALLEGIANCE TO OUR CONSTITUTION AND GOD, WHOSE REAL ALLEGIANCES ARE TO THEIR CLASS AND THEIR GLOBALIST AGENDAS.

Edit: some typos

9. they'll only get away with whatever we let them
no one is stopping them. the fact that 2 million of us are NOT surrounding the white house right now is disheartening.

i think it could come to my scenario though, we just haven't quite reached the 'storm the bastille' mode yet.

11. I agree
and I am of the opinion that WE WILL GET THERE before this is over.

What we here at DU need to be thinking about are CONTINGENCIES: How to, en mass, address certain pre-anticipated events should they occur.

I've been saying this for how long already and the fact remains, there are too many people who have every excuse in the book of why they can't go which is BS! Am sick of talking about this since 2000..they should never have been allowed to enter the WH!

10. I HAVE stopped buying from the giant corp gas stations, I stick to my
stations.

It's not much, but I DO need to get around.

And when some freeper f**k head tells me that if I don't like America, I should leave (when I'm ranting about bush), I tell him it's MY WHITE HOUSE and I WANT BUSH to leave.

That just shuts em right up.

In a conversation I had a couple of years ago, with a friend I have from Afghanistan, he said just what you have here. He said we "Americans" (and he is one now), would have to be prepared to join together and strike nationwide for more than just a day. He suggested we would have to be prepared to strike for at least a month. I believe a week is good and I also believe massive numbers marching on Washington along with the strike is all that will work. Unfortunately, I just don't see it happening until Americans, as a whole, feel far more pain, by then it will probably be too late and martial law will have been implemented.

Oh and by the way, my friend was very excited in the beginning about the invasion of Afghanistan and the prospect of it being rebuilt, becoming a cosmopolitan, shining example to the world. Now he has nothing but a large degree of contempt for this administration and resignation for what is happening there now. One of his brothers' is working in Afghanistan for the US now and he won't talk much about it. His family fled to the US in '78 or '79, they still have property there and have always wanted to return to rebuild.

Sad, Sad, Sad...........

13. Do something? Anything?
we could do the same. begin an actual physical presence of protestors to camp out around the white house, a constant supply of new protestors, rotating round the clock, in ever growing numbers.

Geez, MoPaul. Didn't you see how much good the pre-invasion protests did?

Do you really think this administration is going to be "inconvenienced" by protesters surrounding the White House? You do realize that underground tunnels let anyone go anywhere in DC that he chooses, no matter what's going on in the street.

Sure it's tempting, when you're really frustrated, to want to just do something... anything... to force them to pay attention. Don't waste your energy on "something." Spend it on something that will make a difference. Non-violent civil disobedience is my preference, but that's just me. It requires a good bit of preparation though, and a hell of a lot of self-control and courage. Not everyone can.

i suggest a moratorium on gasoline. simply set a date, and refuse to buy any gasoline for one week.

In my family we have a budget. We spend a set amount for gas each week. Sometimes it's tempting to blow the budget and take a little drive, but we have to check the gas gauge and see if there's enough in the tank to get to work and back first. We decided that no matter the price, we are only spending our set amount each week. If that means no little road trips, well, so be it. It's made me more aware about stopping at the store on the way home from work instead of making a separate week-end trip (probably a good thing!) and by golly we refuse to give the SOBs one more cent no matter how much they raise the prices. At least for now.

The oil companies think they will make a real killing over the summer. We can't afford to run out of gas with this boycott idea... we have to get to work and can't ride bikes or whatever. Still, we can refuse to give them their killing. They can learn to live within a budget same as we do. Until I see a "profit" in my paycheck, none of their CEOs is seeing a profit if I can help it.

I distinctly remember the Emperor at his Tuesday press conference refering to it all as "his" government. It all belongs to him now. Didn't you get the memo, or were you out of the loop like Clarke and the rest of us?
