Who's Bringing Back the Draft: Bush Or Dems?
Some seem to want to have it both ways. Scare people into voting against Bush due to the possible reinstitution of the draft, but at the same time supporting a draft to wake America up. Which is it? I am against any draft, no matter who proposes it.

1. This Dem opposed to the draft
And I'm active in the party, what others "seem to want" is a subjective matter. Clearly * is intent on the draft and yes many of us think that will 'wake up' some people while we still oppose it. Go figure.

3. Not Kerry.
Kerry also said he doesn’t believe there is a need to reinstate the draft, a source of conflict during the Vietnam War.

6. His words are not strong enough for me.
"Kerry also said he doesn’t believe there is a need to reinstate the draft, a source of conflict during the Vietnam War."

I want John Kerry to pledge that he will not bring back the draft. Sending more troops to the Middle East will NOT bring peace.

8. It would be foolish to promise that. What if we are close to WW3
and there is no choice for the next president?

You can't extract that promise now when Bush is SO close to creating a worldwide dilemma.

4. There's going to be a very big problem if they bring back the draft with
no clear threat to demostrate it being absolutely necessary. You are going to have a lot of people who simply don't want to be in the armed forces causing serious problems with nothing to do.

11. There will be a draft beginning June, 2005 regardless of who wins
So in answer to your question, both Dems and Reps will bring back the draft.

13. I am torn on the issue.
I feel that the families of all of the neocons, Bush included, should be drafted. They should have to understand the sacrifice (for what?) being asked by this administration. It's not just life and limb. It's putting your life on hold for a year, two years, to go and fight and become psychologically scarred for a war of lies manufactured by an AWOL coward and his sneering greedy heartless master. On the other hand, I know the draft will not be "selective" and will likely only grab the low income families unable to bribe their way out of it.
