FCC urged to go after 60 minutes
This Florida attorney is the guy who filed the complaints against Stern. Evidently, listening to programming and counting swear words is a hobby of his. Freak.

"Looks like the S-word might be the next profanity in the sites of indecency foes.

Attorney John Thompson, whose complaints about Howard Stern helped prompt Clear Channel to banish the jock and the FCC to fine the company almost half a million dollars, says he has faxed a complaint to the FCC about Sunday night's 60 Minutes broadcast, in which singer Mary J. Blige uttered an under-her-breath "shit."

According to Thomson, he sent the complaint yesterday to FCC Chairman Michael Powell and his senior legal adviser. He did not contact CBS or 60 Minutes and neither had any comment. One CBS spokesperson confirmed the word had aired, though another expressed some doubt."

Remember, the new indecency legislation is raising fines to half a mill. They could also fine both the company and the person who says the word. I have one thing to say to John Thompson: Fuck you asswipe!

3. Yeah, words are more obscene than
actual depictions of violence which is perfectly okay to have on the air.

Sheesh

6. Absolutely, and...
showing a naked tit is unthinkable-- unless it's being cut off with a chainsaw.

10. Or on a dead Iraq mother on the ground.
Are the people in the US going nuts or something? We all will have to go to Fr. to get our books like we used to do. The Puritans are back and to think I came from that group. My good Republican father used to say , 'our family were puritans and look what bad things they and the church did to each other.'

14. Yes
I think we are in a form of hypocritical puritanism. Except I think it's some sort of compensation for what they do in real life. (Those that complain the loudest are often the most guilty).

4. I wonder
This couldn't have anything to do with 60 Minutes' anti-Bush pieces, could it?

5. Who the heck is this guy?
I watched that segment and Mary Blige was great. Thompson should only get down on his knees and thank his God for not having the childhood abuse Mary Blige has endured.

Is he the same guy in Florida who pushed through the non married womens bill where if pregnant, you wanted to give your child up for adoption, you had to name all sexual partners, contact the father and it was to be published in the newspaper every day for two weeks?

7. Grotesque priorities and tactics. But why would 60 Min. allow such a hit?
Criminalizing words while allowing mass murder is a symptom of emotional illness in our culture.

But if that s-word is really in the broadcast, why would 60 Minutes let there be a distraction from the story more important than Watergate and the Pentagon Papers combined?

11. Where's the outrage when Sheppard on FOX said BLOWJOB???
Hell,I'll bet that video is still in the vault or someone on DU still has it. Doing a segment on JLow and blurted out BLOWJOB right on national TV.

Shouldn't make one shit bit of difference if it is regular network or cable,he said it and it was prime time hours.

WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE from Repukes on that one??

12. Will someone give the phone numbers Rush, Hannity, and Savage's call ins?
I'm going to pretend to be an ass-kissing repuke and then when they get me on the air, I'll yell FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK and then run and complain to Michael Powell. :eyes:

It is SO OBVIOUS that this is being done on a partisan basis! ARGH!

Howard because he was anti-Bush and now 60 Minutes because they are hard on Bush lately.

Oh, here's one better... I want to get in the audience for that dumb Fox show Linda Vesser Vesller whatever her name is. Then, when the camera pans to me, I'll whip out my boobs.
