3. I was afraid of that.
In his book, "Against All Enemies", Richard Clarke's accusations were getting too much credible, media attention. It's obvious, to me, Woodward is a * shill, hence time to release his :puffpiece: book. Notice Clarke's absence, since its release. The 'Vulcans', as they call themselves, are the radical neo-cons, including, and surrounding *, who are intent upon destroying our democracy, and keeping, and expanding their control. :hi: LittleApple 81

13. The Neocons made a trip to Texas to tutor DimSon on
foreign policy after that 2000 primary season disaster when he couldn't name but two foreign heads of state to a reporter. I believe this is when they started calling themselves the Vulcans, but i could be mistaken.

2. I've been saying it all along, Woodward's book is a judas goat.
Woodward WORKS for bushco, he has been on their team since Nixon/Watergate.

People have gotten all excited, like this is one more big revelations book in company with The Price of Loyalty and Against All Enemies. But it's not, it's pure psyops.

It's changing the subject, changing the focus, and dishes out a HUGE hunk of red meat for the fundies -- bush* the prayerful, the divinely inspired, the thoughtful and deeply spiritual man answering the call of God.

Look at what's happened with John Dean's book, Worse Than Watergate that came out just before Woodward's book. Do you see Dean on any talk shows? Do you hear any buzz about ITS revelations? Nope, it's effectively buried.

I wish people would grasp what's happening here. The American public is being softened up to ACCEPT all that bush* does. We're being swept along in a national madness, which Woodward's book is precisedly designed to feed.

The American public will ACCEPT that we were lied to. They will ACCEPT that there are mighty and ruthless leaders in the White House who do what they see fit to do and that it is not proper for mere mortals to question the means that they utilize. We are to accept that their ends are not only good and moral, they are divinely inspired.

We are in SUCH deep shit....

4. Dean's book is excellent - get one or go to the library...
Edited on Tue Apr-20-04 05:35 PM by Richardo
...I agree it's a shame it was overshadowed. Dean examines the secrecy and the dismantling of the government as we know by the "co-presidency" of Bush and Cheney.

And it's based on stuff that has ALREADY been done in the first term. Truly :scared:

6. Sadly, too few people have a grasp of "deep politics"
A month or so ago, I caught an amazing interview on NOW with a civil rights lawyer. One thing she said that really struck me, is that what people need to do is learn to look behind the "third curtain".

She said that politics is a Kubuki show, and if we REALLY want to understand what's going on, we have to stop paying attention to the play out in front of us -- start looking behind the "third curtain".

Woodward's book is a perfect example of third curtain stuff. What's happening up front is totally sleight of hand.

12. Speaking of observations...
One thing that saddens (and frustrates) me, is how MANY people stay focussed on the stage show. This phenomena is starkly evident in this very forum. Notice how threads that focus on the surface of things stay active, and how quickly threads like this -- that focus on questions of what's going on BENEATH the surface -- sink away out of sight.

It saddens me greatly...

18. "determination beats anger."
we're angry, they're determined, and they have a long-term plan. in the final analysis, and because of their present control, i believe our future may depend upon right-thinking, alarmed members of their party. simply put, imo, we can't beat them without that faction. they're out there, but the question is 'will they step up to the plate before it's too late'.

11. Was the civil rights lawyer Condie Rice's cousin?
I saw that one, but I thought it was a few months ago.

14. Yes, that's the one! Condi's cousin, Constance Rice.
It was on February 20 -- so, TWO months ago. ;-)

Of all the interviews I watch, that one particularily stuck with me. She was great, laying it straight out about the class war, among other things.

Here's the part of the interview to which I was referring:

RICE: ...First, you have to identify what's really going on, which is what we're even just approaching here in this conversation. You hear very few conversations about what's going on behind the third curtain on the stage. And the Kabuki dance that's happening in the front of the stage, I know has nothing to do with reality.

I'm talking about three curtains in, and lifting it up so the American people can see what is really going on.
There's no way they can know.

BRANCACCIO: But you don't think this will come out in the wash in November, at the Presidential election? That the American public will have that choice·

RICE: No.

BRANCACCIO: ·and they can decide.

RICE: No. And you wanna know why? Because you can't take these deeper issues, and reduce them to sound bytes. And I think that the Democrats, you know, there's really no Democratic party. You've got a vehicle for raising money for elections. But there's nothing that continues in between.

16. I had it Tivo'ed, but it somehow got deleted a few weeks ago
She was brilliant, articulate, warm, and absolutely beautiful (in the opinion of a 40 year old hetero....). People like her are the ones that should be in gov't - not the power-mad criminals we have in there now.

She could have stopped this war - if she had been in a position of power.

15. Just exactly what was just being discussed with my hubbie and another
DU'er.

How well timed. Bury Dean, replace with Woodward. Friend is reading both, and please, let us all not forget Kevin Phillips and his excellent "American Dynasty". We are being had if we let Woodward replace everyone else. Don't forget Suskind and Paul O'Neill. We are getting buried if we are not careful. Frame our debate and choose our war carefully. KNOW your enemy.

17. 'KNOW your enemy."
See, I'm quite sure that Woodward IS one of the enemy. His book is featured on the bush* campaign website as "recommended reading".

Who's controlling the agenda? Who's controlling which questions get asked? And who has the ready supply of answers?

They are faking us out with the Woodward book. Don't be fooled.

21. Sorry you missed my message. Woodward is not our friend.
"Know your enemy." I'm not fooled, sorry you think I was. Why else would the "book" be #1 on the Bush campaign list for "recommended reading"?

Don't we all know who is "controlling the agenda"?

Give me a break.....................

22. Actually, I was agreeing with you -- sorry I was unclear.
I can see that I worded my post poorly, I meant it as an agreement with and expansion on the point you had raised, and was addressing my remarks to the general "audience" rather than to you, personally. My questions were rhetorical, I regret that I failed in crafting my post skillfully enough so that it would be sufficiently obvious.

No hard feelings I hope.

19. well timed, and planned, albeit with not much sophistication.
it wasn't necessary, and they were well prepared. toss out tiny morsels of bloody meat to attract, and lure the hungry, as well as the followers. then feed them bullshit, laced with tranquilizers, and hallucinogens until they all disperse, the hungry-bewildered, and the followers-content as before.
 overtired, best go to bed now, but will you love me in the morning? :)
