We have to "stay the course" ? "Well, what course is he talking about?"
The Senator asked that question very succinctly today and entwined within the question is the bigger question of just what is our policy in Iraq and are we going to continue doing what we've been doing so far? Are we going to continue losing 100 troops a month? Are we going to continue having anarchy in the streets?

Just how long are we supposed to "continue the course"? Senator Robert Byrd posed the question to the Adminstration today. So far, no one has rushed out to answer him. After all, he's just an old man from West Virginia...What would he know?

5. The NeoCons cannot fail, thus Stay the Course.
To Cut and Run is not an option..... that is until the demand reaches a cresendo so high they have no choice. We are almost there. The din is starting to shatter glasses even. We should be supporting our troops not by leaving them there but find a way to leave in a dignified way.

The Bush guys are using simplistic approaches, the big sword thingy, The Pen left unused. Lack of brains is it? Thats what we get when electing Morans.

3. this is much the same line of questioning
being asked of our Prime Miniature - Little Johnny Howard says we need to stay in Iraq "until the job's done" yet no-one can get an answer out of him as to exactly what that job is, clearly it wasn't the WMD thing, it can't have been Saddam's overthrow and/or capture otherwise our forces would be back by now, so what is the "job" exactly???

All this from a weasel of a man who adamantly stated that "peacekeeping" would not be part of the Australian soldiers breif?

4. Read this little gem
...from January:

"LaHaye's books, and his quirky interpretation of biblical prophecy that stands behind them, revolve intensely around Iraq, because LaHaye believes that Armageddon will be unleashed from the Antichrist's headquarters in Babylon. Since the 1970s -- when Iraq began a reconstruction project on the ruins of the ancient city, near Baghdad -- LaHaye has said that Saddam Hussein is carrying out Satan's mission. In 1999, LaHaye wrote that Saddam is "a servant of Satan," possessed by a demon, and that he could be "the forerunner of the Antichrist." Ultimately, says LaHaye, before Christ can return to Earth, Iraq, led by the Antichrist, must engage in a world-shaking showdown with Israel

"But the idea that Bush, in going to war against Iraq, might have been moved not by politics but by an apocalyptic vision is terrifying to some. Last October, the Rev. C. Welton Gaddy of the Interfaith Alliance wrote a formal letter to Bush, saying, in part, "Please assure the American people that you are not developing foreign policy on the basis of a fundamentalist biblical theology that requires cataclysm in Israel in order to guarantee the return of Christ." So far, he has not received an answer, and the White House didn't return calls from Rolling Stone asking whether the president has read Left Behind."

6. Paul Begala did a terrific play on "stay the course."
2.5 million jobs lost and George Bush wants to stay the course. John Kerry says it's time for change.

Over 700 Americans killed in Iraq, 160 billion dollars spent and George Bush wants to stay the course. John Kerry says it's time for change.

43 million Americans without health insurance and George Bush wants to stay the course. John Kerry says it's time for change,

You get the idea. It would make a terrific ad and tie it all together.

7. Stay the course means stay 'till the oil is gone.
Think about it. Saudi Arabia may well be getting ready to dissolve - did you see their interior minister tonight? He looked seriously scared.

And any politician - or party - that lets the U.S. economy crater due to an oil shock that makes '73 look like a picnic will be turned out of office.

10. kentuck-when you said "senator", I thought you meant Kerry
Why doesn't Kerry put things in just those same terms?? Ask the people what is meant by continuing this stupid course and then use it as a lead in to his proposals. That's the way John has to learn to talk. That both hits Bush and then turns around and gives a stage to explaining his vision.
