Poll question: Did Kerry manipulate Bush into 'forcing him' to open his military records?
Edited on Thu Apr-22-04 01:23 AM by Feanorcurufinwe
I think Kerry purposely held back some of his records so he could make a big deal of releasing them.

Kerry Military Records -- High Praise, Combat Kills
Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry's military records, released on Wednesday after critics questioned one of his medals, show he was a highly praised commander credited with killing at least 20 enemy soldiers. The records, posted on the campaign's Web site, include effusive evaluations of Kerry's service and previously released citations for the Silver Star, Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts he earned in the Vietnam War.

Kerry, who served as a swiftboat commander in Vietnam's Mekong Delta in 1968 and 1969 during his second tour of duty, "frequently exhibited a high sense of imagination and judgment in planning operations against the enemy," according to a January 1969 evaluation by a supervisor. The report noted Kerry "exhibited all of the traits desired of an officer in a combat environment" and was "unofficially credited with 20 enemy killed in action."

Other reports from command school and officer evaluations described him as "a highly talented, polished and professional naval officer" and "highly intelligent, well read and skilled.'

The more than 100 pages of records were released by the campaign under pressure from Republicans after one of Kerry's former commanders questioned his first Purple Heart and the severity of the shrapnel wound to Kerry's arm.

1. I request duty in Vietnam. My first preference is "Swift" boats with a second choice of Patrol Officer in a PBR Squadron.
...

4. I consider the opportunity to serve in Vietnam an extremely important part of being in the armed forces, and believe that my request is in the best interests of the Navy.

Kerry holds back 'some' records... makes the Bushies wail and cry foul....

then releases perfectly innocuous records.

Oh, who made the big deal about missing/withheld records? Oh that was BUSH!

Oh...who's records should we review CAREFULLY????? BUSH's

Spendidly shrewd, imo

heh heh, my case in point: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x1453893

5. Maybe... just maybe...
I hope so, but I'm not entirely convinced. It's somewhat risky considering the media whores being what they are. Maybe he's more of a gambler than I give him credit for.

7. BWAHAHAHA....
a beautiful move.

The fun is starting. Kerry is in a sweet spot-- he has nothing to be ashamed of, so the more they attack him, the better he looks.

He didn't spend all those years in the Senate and not learn a thing or two.

8. The Thing About Liars...or, How Kerry Suckered Bush on Nam
Here's the thing: liars believe that everyone else is just as big of a liar. Ergo, when the Kerry war record was made an issue by Kerry being slightly coy about releasing records, the repigs did their usual projection thing and assumed that there was something in there to hide.

Kerry played a little rope-a-dope, and the liars got caught in the noose. Beautiful!

Now, Kerry gets to openly talk about his ENTIRE war record because the R's brought it up! Inevitably, it will reflect on bush's questionable record and hurt bush!

Yee-haw!

F*ckin stupid rethugs...

If this was planned by Kerry than this is Be-U-tiful! Kerry has been leading the GOP attack machine by the nose like a Bullfighter. Everything they have been trying to get Kerry of from a an supposed Affiar to War records have been making the whores pantsless and red faced. I LOVE IT!
I feel he is gonna go for the kill in Nov

11. Yep, he baited Bush into that one.
Kerry and his campaign are a lot smarter and a lot better at this game than most people are giving them credit for.

12. And that's OK too!
Let Bush and his thugees consistently underestimate their opponent. Let them be lulled into a false sense of security...although how they could possibly feel secure with the whole house of cards crashing down on them is beyond me, but stranger things have happened.

Yes, let them think Kerry is a lightweight (although, again, why they would is beyond me). It plays right into our hands.
