Anyone notice something Tweety said last night about the draft?
He talked about how during Vietnam all one needed was to have rich parents to send them to their private doctor to have him say their kid had some type of medical problem to keep them out of Vietnam. Now ask yourself what the Rethugs and the media would have said about Governor Dean had he been the Dem nominee. Do you think Deans medical deferment would have been a positive thing right now with voters with all the talk of reinstating the draft? My guess is he would have been massacred over this issue come November. What do you think?

2. It would have been a draw with Bush's
national guard service and AWOL issues.

On the other hand, all this time Dean could have been flogging Bush from coast to coast on foreign policy, unfettered by past voting blunders.

Next time we will nominate a baby in diapers!
BGL, you know I love howard dean, so this is a general comment.

I find it just fantastic that "Lack of Record" and "Lack of Experience" is seen as a positive quality when looking for a Presidential candidate. Why? Because some pudgy and craven political consulant might twist it in one of his hoaky Lie Commercials?

For goodness sake, GWB is proof positive that this Blank Slate approach is seriously flawed.

8. Well, that's not exactly what I meant...

I think Dean's credibility is "in the pudding." It's just a matter of someone actually having had the courage and wisdom to say that the Iraq war was a mistake from the beginning. He's right, and builds credibility for being right.

Edited for rhetoric.

7. Hardly a "draw"....
You know how the rethugs work. Look at how they are trying to minimize and denigrate one of Kerry's Purple Hearts for not being a "serious enough wound" to merit it. These bastards never saw a gnat they didn't want to strain, especially a democratic gnat. :grr:

9. They don't win as long as we hit them back...
Bush got into the national guard because of HIS daddy, and went AWOOOOOOOOOOOLLLL.....

It's a draw at best.

5. Wouldn't have been and different than
what was said by supporters of Dean's Democratic opponents.

Dean addressed the criticisms of his deferrment with honest answers. It would never be good enough for some people. Just as Kerry's service is still not good enough for some.

6. No doubt
Nutjobs on the right were questioning Kerry's Purple Heart.

They were calling for him to release all of his records before he could even process them. This gives the Democrats more ammunition to demand the same from Bush.

The D-Day ceremonies are going to be a disaster for Bush like it was for Clinton. In 1994 it was the turning point in the "Year of the Angry White Male".

Questions will be raised again that won't go away all summer.
