Made an appointment with a shrink, should I charge the military? |
|
I know its going to cost 100 dollars or more an hour, but I am up to my eyeballs in stress. With my husband freaking out all day, tired and scared for his son in Baghdad, with my other sons who are having panic attacks where they live in Hawaii, both of them calling me day and night freaking out over Michael in Baghdad and their own problems, and my own concerns for ALL of them, our family is about at the breaking point. I can do so much. I think maybe its time for me to charge the military industrial complex for putting us all through this crap. If I have to go see a psychiatrist to gain some helpful insights into how to cope thru this, I figure I deserve some reimbursement for the stress this fake war has caused my whole family. Too bad I dont have health insurance that will cover psychiatrists office. But its that, or Ill end up in the loony bin. I could send the bill to the Pentagon think they will pay it?

send them the bill with a letter explaining that they should be paying for the hell my family is going thru..in fact, all the military families and every family in this nation to send all their medical bills to the RNC and tell them, its your president, your policies that did this to us, you pay it.

6. If things dont improve Ill just go to the ER and sign myself in |
|
and get some TLC , at least the insurance pays for that. Im just trying to decide if the bill should be sent straight to the Pentagon, the RNC, or the White House. =)

I've been reading your posts for quite some time and have been very moved by your plight. I've a soon to be 13 year old boy and I adore him and all of his friends. I fear the reinstatement of the draft for these kids and have been obsessingly writing e-mails to every politician, pundit and plutocrat I can think of for well over a year regarding BBV's to hopefully rectify this wohful situation.
I've been a counselor for well over twenty years. Please be careful with shrinks. Some just want to medicate. You have a very valid reason for stress and that should not be mollified by medication. You don't want to have your protective impulses inhibited. That will disable you when Michael needs you to be clear. Rely upon friends and everyone here and when you feel especially fearful, visualize him returning back to you healthy and whole. That is the best magic you can do right now. I'm praying for him as well. Bless you dear.

Some books out there are really, really very good and much more up to date than the doctors office. You don't need anything more to think about and that sounds like thats the problem. Your brain can just handle so much and you will crack from the stress. Plus you are getting everyone else's stress to take on.Power of Now is a great book by Eckhart Tolle. Keeps you in the present. Start any place in the book and he has wisdom about stress. He eclipses some highly touted authors with his simplicity.

9. I was serious the other day |
|
Xanax is the lesser of several evils. It sounds like you're running pretty close to the edge. For damned good reason. You'll function better for those around you if you're in a drug induced fog too. I'm not being facetious. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, and this isn't a good time to pop, for several reasons. Xanax has ugly consequences, but they can be managed. And far more importantly at this point, Xanax has considerable benefits.
Eat the pills. The addiction isn't that hard to break, once the stress eases.

12. One thing that has always helped me is exercise. |
|
Thirty years ago when I was in the Navy I used to run on the flightdeck and have always kept an exercising routine (more or less) since.
But all you need to do is take a brisk walk, preferably in a quiet natural environment, for a half-hour or so. It really helps to reduce stress as well as improve your health. Ideally find a fitness place near your home and sign up. That way the weather won't stop you.
We're pulling for you here at DU Mari.
