We need to pay VERY CLOSE attention to what Bush does now.

1. I am missing something
ads are running on CNN... that somehow put pressure on Bush. Not following how the ads (haven't seen them) put pressure on Bush. Clarification?

3. I don't follow Phoebe's meaning either.
The ads are slick, feel good kind of pieces for some mega firms Saudi control. Why they are advertising on CNN is beyond me too.

7. A company that advertises in CNN is inmediatly suspect to me...
not because they are advertising in CNN, but because of all the other companies that do. Boeing's and Exxon's ads are CREEPY! Then there is Fannie Mae, DiTech.com...

20. It's about control
you put in money, you buy control.

Saudi doesn't want anyone reporting any negative information about them and the trillions of dollars of influence they have in America

CNBC Financial Network, too. They want to show how much they invest in the US. Notice the Disneyworld photos in the ad. All about how much America is dependent on Saudi Money.

2. "follow the money"
Edited on Thu Apr-22-04 02:56 PM by pinto
If you mean the connection between Bushco and the House of Saud.....the money trail leads there. But I don't see the pressure aspect you mention.??

I do think Bushco will protect those connections at all costs.

6. Bush is in a rough spot.

The Saudis are now extremely unhappy with his sanctioning of Sharon's position regarding the Palestinians, the escalating situation in Iraq and the revelation regarding Bandar and the "take it to the bank" memos and the gas price fixing allegations. A meeting has been called for ALL the Arab states to attend. This hasn't happened in what, decades?

The intelligence community has been worried about this for some time.

Islamic states call emergency meeting
Islamic nations will hold an emergency meeting on developments in the Middle East at the request of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, a Malaysian spokesman has said.

Malaysia is current chairman of the 57-member Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the world's largest grouping of Muslim states.

Plans for a May 4 meeting to discuss Iraq and the Palestinian issue would be brought forward in view of the major policy shift announced by US President George W Bush on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar told the Bernama news agency.

"We want to organise the meeting earlier because we now feel the urgency of the new development," Mr Syed Hamid said.

10. I think I see your drift now. We ARE walking a tightrope in the ME,
some would say we're playing a brinksmanship game.

And I think this admin is over its head, even with our military might.

With Bushco it has always been about Saudi Arabia.

thanks for the posts. I'm out.

4. I noticed that a few days ago...
I had never heard about Kingdom Holdings, but after I saw the logo I guessed they had something to do with the Middle East.

I made a few searches on Google and couldn't find much about Kingdom Holdings either. It certainly surprised me how many companies they have invested in, and the size of them...

9. try "Saudi Arabian Corporations" and maybe follow up with a
"Board of Directors" sub search. I followed that lead a while back, ran into a lot of dead ends, but some of the corporation info - you tend to get their prospectus - was interesting. Lots of UK/US folks on boards over there.

On second thought, I'd suggest a Kuwait Corporations search, also.

5. Is he actually pushing for these reforms, or is it just PR?
...
But in Saudi Arabia this nephew of the king has called for a range of reforms: elections, women's rights and job creation.
...

Interesting if he is...

11. Randi Rhodes is right ya'll!
Something I hear Randi say all the time: watch the ads on the news networks. You'll notice a lot of them are for things an average person can't actually buy, from corporations that don't actually do business with Jane/Joe Public. I'm talking about the ADMs, Big Oil, etc. Why would these people buy ads on news networks, then?

TO CONTROL THE MESSAGE.

Randi really opened my eyes to this...just think about it...Prince whatshisface was making the rounds on CNN the other night trying to defuse Woodward's allegations. Do you think it's a coincidence that NOW Kingdom Holdings is pouring money into CNN via ads?

Things that make you go "hmm", indeed...

17. My e-mail to them

Why on earth (besides the mega-bucks) does CNN insist on rubbing our noses in the hubris of the Saudis.

In case you forgot, they are NOT the gentle allies they would have us believe..

FIFTEEN of the people who flew those planes were SAUDIS.. I know that behind the scenes, they pull many of the "puppet strings" of our government, but for you to accept their blood money and run those insulting ads, is reprehensible..

When ads are shown for "things" that the consumer cannot go out and buy, the "propaganda antennae" are fully engaged..

Please reconsider these ads..

(Hello to the psy-ops guys, if they are still with CNN)

19. I saw an ad night before last on CNN from
and outfit based in Saudi Arabia called "KINGDOM".
The gist of the ad was a claim to be in touch with every aspect of my life.
"Brave New World" is all was all I could think of.
