The Emperor is Naked!!!
I was just reading a post by must_b_free and I think that they nailed Shrub's moment of down fall, the press conference. The second Bush couldn't name one mistake, we witnessed the beginning of the end.

A live press conference was the absolute worst idea the repugs could have imagined. Face it, boogie man Rove, is drunk with power, and was a hack to begin with. Live tv only amplified how horrible and inept the Shrub is and coupled with the losses in Iraq, Americans simply need more from Bush* and he could not deliver. America did not want their pResident, to look like some drugged up jerk. His breath probably smelled like Valium.

So take heart my friends, America is waking up. We should all enjoy the ride.

1. Fool me twice...ummmm...
he couldn't say it, not even as a saying. I kept thinking back to that. It's a disorder.

4. he knew the saying
he just could not repeat the words SHAME ON ME. That's like apologizing, and that arrogant prick cannot do that.

2. I wish I had a screen shot of condi's face from the Press Conf.
In one quick cut to her and Rove, she looked like a puppy who knew it had done something wrong... It was a moment when Dumbya was sputtering. Rove was just sitting there with his jaw dropped and Condi just looked sunken. That was my moment of zen.

It's finally OVER.

12. your post made me so envious
I love those moments. How sorry I am that I missed it.

I did see one moment where Condi had her leg sticking out so far I thought it was going to snake around and kick him in the a**.

3. Really...

Why didn't they just go the Reagan route? I remember being a kid and Reagan constantly interrupting programming to read whatever was scripted for him. Maybe they don't even think that he can reliably do that? Anyway, I pray every night that the country has turned a corner. November can't come fast enough.

5. The Emperor may have been naked...
...but I would feel much better if I knew the snake was dead, figuratively speaking. I will breathe much much easier on November 3 after all the votes have been counted. And this time, ALL OF THE VOTES BETTER BE COUNTED!!!

6. Yep I tihnk the corner has been turned
and that was a precious historical moment that will be watched by students in school, who will say, why does this matter?

Those who refuse to learn from history... and I think we Muricans do.

Oh and one more thing, this boy is making Nixon look like a choir boy on the Sunday Choir.

7. That's bad when Nixon looks good in comparison
Edited on Fri Apr-23-04 01:29 AM by Must_B_Free
I've said it before. even George HW Bush looks good compared to his son. At least the man could form sentences. And he had the sense not to try to own Bhagdad.

I'd take 4 Nixons and 7 HWs sooner than I'd take another W.

10. Scary even St Reagan looks good
compared to Junior. At least he was able to inspire the people wiht his Morning in America speeches.

Junior CANNOT even form a sentence... a cogent sentence that is, umless it involves death and destruction

14. Speaking of which...
...was anyone else creeped out with his graphic descriptions of throats being cut?

It just seemed so...over the top (even more so than the whole simian exercise). It gave me a creepy feeling, and I'm not usually wrong when I get a creepy feeling.

8. I've never seen such an inept performance..from such a powerful man
before.

But do you think those freepers think the same ?.I think he could go on air stutter, stumble and burst into tears and they would think he was 'standing up to terrorists"..

Hopefully the waverers in the middle think differently.

Kerry's going to destroy W. in the debate. I say debate because I doubt he'll bother to embarass himself a 2nd time.

13. his performance was dismal.....
He comes from a line of heavy drug users and alchoholics.... Remember Poppy throwing up on the Premier of Japan....(overdose of Valium) It takes a lot of Valium to make you throw up on a Premier, when your only job is not to throw up on the Premier.....Very similar to the drunken pretzel incident ...All these Bushes Suck... I could not believe all the people who think Poppy was good... He sucks Big time...I thought he was crooked and stupid... but by comparison this Emperor is much much worse... He has no clothes.... Brains, Integrity, truth telling ability, bravery, and he looks as stupid as he is.....

15. The beginning but not the end
He is STILL propped up and spinnable no matter how laughable and obvious his behavior or speech is. As with Nixon he needs to do something REALLY dramatic(smoking gun for an impossible impeachment by a GOP Congress seems unimaginable) that will not get a) sympathy b) possibility for spin c) a chance for any other story to deflect attention.

Face it, with the media and the government propping up His Splendiferousness people are not rallied to feel or do anything even about an obvious incompetent boob who lies. They learn to live with it like they did with Nixon and honor the stained flag and fantasy glories wrapped around the dead fish.

Bush is not King, cognitive dissonance enforced by the venues of dominant power is.

Truth is still not recognized if it resides only in the venues of the Left or simply fair reasonable people from either side.

The real breaking point of no return has not arrived and I am sure the WH does not believe it is inevitable, so neither should we.

We will all be a lot safer in many basic ways if it becomes truly inevitable and the neocons don't simply do something insanely criminal.

17. All publicity is good publicity
That Hollywood maxim seems inappropriate but partially it is true now. Bush is getting all the attention of a train wreck while Kerry is pushed offpage a bit. If he can keep shooting himself in the foot or allow Americans to be killed maybe this is a loony strategy that will keep attention from Kerry as the 300,000,000 bucks buys slick slurs. As long as the media behaves as it does there are not enough consequences for this "downfall" unless Iraq or the economy or both blow up. Terrorism is less predictable but the media venues are always on the WH side.

The reason the "people" in vaster numbers(in the USA ONLY) seem callous or stupid is because that is how they are informed and stifled by media forums. Long after the masses have decided or take to the streets or have passed completely over to the truth- THEN the rats will jump ship as best they can- and probably suffer few of the consequences themselves because they still control the raw outlets of mass information.

But they may just be too late to accomplish that if they don't hurry.

19. I wish I had a dollar
for every time I've read someone post that this is the beginning of the end for * & company. It's just wishful thinking, people. Dumbya and his entourage are the new teflon dons. Nothing sticks to them. Who here can list how many different situations surrounding * & company led people here at DU to believe that this was the beginning of the end? Here's just a few:

*'s dubious excuse for filing the necessary papers when he sold his interests off in Harken Energy.
*'s military record
The Plame outing
The lying about Iraq's WMDs & imminent threat

There's many more similar situations, I just can't remember them all (getting somewhat up in years and the memory isn't what it used to be).
