We should have a check-off box on our taxes |
|
If I don't want to pay for this war in Iraq, which has nothing to do with the security of the United States, I should be allowed to check off a box on my tax forms if I don't want to fund the war. This was a war of choice, and as such, only the people support it should have to fund it.

pukes will demand the same for every welfare program, and I'd bet 80% of the public would be greedy enough to defund the programs they don't personally benefit from.

2. But given the fraction of the budget going to those |

programs vs things like military budget, we would probably see better results in funding if we were allowed to pick. I've often said there should be 8-10 major areas that we could pick from, pick one or some or all, depending on which programs you support. Then, they take 10% off the top of my taxes for general administration budget, the rest gets divvied up how I indicated - talk about the will of the people! Unfortunately, takes too much power from Congress to ever get it approved.
