question for bush re war on terror: define "victory", "peace" |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-23-04 05:03 AM by unblock
q: you have stated that this is a new kind of war and it may take many years, maybe a generation. what exactly is your vision of "victory"? what will the world look like when we have finally won the war on terror? how will we know? what is our exit strategy?
the fascists need to be hammered with this question.
the only way comments about the war on terror taking decades or generations make sense is if they envision total world domination, where we have sufficient police state might everywhere on the planet to prevent any act of violence. and even that is an absurdly impossible notion.

I heard a similar question from a caller on NPR yesterday. She said:
"Terrrorism has been around in some form or another since the begining of time. How will you know if you have won? You can't not sit down at a table with terrorism and broker a peace deal."

And even if the terrorists were defeated, we might not realize it until years later.
I wonder how the global terrorist groups would define "victory". I suppose they will "win" when everyone who disagrees with them is dead.
