In which states will Nader make it on the ballot?
I'd like to hear from different states about what the requirements are and if you've heard of any Nader petition activity.

In Virginia, I think it will be highly unlikely for Nader to make the ballot.

The only other one I've heard of is Oregon, where he failed to draw 1,000 people to a mass meeting and now must get many more petition signatures.

4. I was very disheartened to hear
Edited on Fri Apr-23-04 09:12 AM by Kerryfan
someone in the media, I'm sorry I don't remember who, say he thought Nader would be on the ballot in 47 or 48 states. I know it was someone who I could not dismiss as a nutcase. Did anyone else hear this ?

It is in the last few days that I heard this.

6. Howard FIneman
on Imus. He said he spoke to the campaign manager and they were going to get on the ballot of 47 out of 50 states.

7. I don't remember the campaign manager part.
Could have just been bluster on his part then.

8. Nader will not qualify in Virginia.
That is my prediction. Virginia law requires 10,000 signatures with at least 400 from each congressional district. That's impossible without either a lot of very committed volunteers or a paid staff.

This is important: What other states will Nadir not qualify in?

9. He may be able to afford the paid staff
He has raised enough money to qualify for matching funds, and is on pace to raise more this time than he did in 2000.

10. all signature requirements are irrelevant
if he gets the nomination of a state green, reform, or another 3rd party that already has ballot access

12. In VA, only D's and R's have access.
Even the L's have to qualify.

16. He's not seeking GP nom, and I think he's already set himself up
(rhetorically) as not running under any party's flag.

14. Pretty sure he won't make it on in NC
58,000 signatures required. Didn't happen in 2000, even less likely this time. Also, NC doesn't count write-ins.

17. Danger! Nader threat listed by state.
It's not as bad as a thought, but still something to worry about. I only checked battleground states and only found 5 that looked in serious risk. But they are pretty scary. They are in order of importance and listed by needed signatures and completion date: Ohio (5000, 8/19), Minnesota (1710, 9/14), Wisconsin (2000, 8/1 thru 9/7), Iowa (1500, 8/13) and Nevada (5015, (7/9).

If Nader doesn't make the ballot in any of those 5 states I predict it will be a Kerry landslide, unless stolen.
