he may have a point, but only to a degree. jermaine has lost much credibility defending his sick brother, who jermaine lives off of like a parasite.

He's an attorney, and has seen a number of Arab clients he believes innocent of any wrongdoing disappear into the post-9/11 legal black holes. And this is Canada.

I lived in a small southern town in the mid-60s and went to a segregated school for a couple of years. Although I saw blacks on the street, I never knew one personally. I had no special prejudices, but as a group they were separate and different. Black folks were confined to lower-paying jobs and poorer neighborhoods.

The closest thing today are Mexican, Puerto Ricans, and Central Americans. There are no Jim Crow laws today, but there is segregation by language, class, and skills. All the maintenance people in my work are Spanish-speaking. There is much less mixing than between other ethnic groups.

Just my two cents. America's emphasis on diversity is good -- I think that Hispanics get left out the mix too often.
