3. The Tennessean (Nashville) didn't run it
There was a column from the editor complaining about the phrase "son of a bitch". Anyone else's paper refuse to run it today?

7. Nope
A couple of papers have been pulling this weeks as too violent. Guess they want the clean war. You know, the one where no one is wounded. Those few brave lads that do die do so instantly after saying a few brave words to their buddies to keep up the struggle. And the people line the streets in gratitude when our lads approach. You know, War.

12. They like "movie wars"...
where they step on a mine, and utter "whew, just grazed me".. or they get wounded, but the friendly wise-cracking doc patches them up and they are back on the line in a day or two..no limps, no scars..

The "myth" of the movie warrior has deluded the masses..

20. Akron Beacon Journal (Ohio) used underscores instead of
"ITCH".

Otherwise they ran it.

Also above the cartoon, they had a note saying "To see the unedited strip . . ."

21. Have they run the rest of the strip this week?
If they pulled just this one I could see the justification of pulling it on the language factor if the comic runs with the rest of the strips.

Yes, comics appeal to all ages but generally even Doonsbury doesn't let loose with the profanity and if you haven't followed the strip all week the statement will appear to be profanity for profanity's sake.

23. They ran all of the others this week
They were very clear that the reason they pulled it today was because of the language. The Tennessean is a pretty liberal newspaper, so I would have been very surprised if they had killed all of it.

10. You're right, Bertha
From the side the Doc looks quite a bit more plump.

The 4th frame line also sounds like something Hawkeye would say. :D

17. That's funny. When I saw the strip I thought the doc
looked just like Mike Farrell's B. J. Honeycutt.

22. I think he looks more like B.J. Hunnicutt
Given Mike Farrell's opposition to the war that would make sense.
