about. I choose Treason, I feel bad for this guy, I feel far worse for all the others.

He gave up a multi-million dollar contract to serve the country in the US Army and was killed in action.

And then there is TREASON:

COMMENTARY:
Some Dare Call It Treason: Wake Up America!
by Dr. Robert Bowman, USAF Ret.

We are upholding the spirit of the American Revolution. We are preserving the freedoms that the troops in the desert have a right to come back to.

I am a member of Veterans For Peace, an organization of thousands of combat veterans. All of us have put our life on the line for this country. Most of us opposed the recent invasion of Iraq. We also opposed the first Gulf War, and the sanctions that followed. We opposed the slaughter of fleeing Iraqis on the Road to Basra. We opposed the use of Depleted Uranium munitions. And we opposed the lies upon which the first Gulf War was based. But there was one good thing about that first Gulf War. It ended. And without a wholesale invasion of Iraq. Why?

1. how about both?
I think we need some Democrats out there to start speaking the truth - VOCALLY and LOUDLY.

Clinton got far worse treatment for getting oral from a consenting adult outside the bounds of holy matrimony.

But, I do grieve for anybody that dies for * and his war. At least Tillman put his money where his mouth is. How many sons of Republican congressmen are serving in the military in Iraq or Afghanistan?

2. terrific point: put his money where his mouth is
I teach in a college and twice recently (post 9/11 and as the war began), my macho students started beating their chests and growling. But when I told them that I'd be happy to drive them down to the recruiter's, they all just shut up.

Still, when the football team decided on last year's motivational t-shirt, it bore a caption like "This is war and war has no survivors." Like playing, even the toughest game, is "war." Like losing, even getting skunked, is "not surviving."

4. "War has no survivors"???
That would seem to be a strong disincentive to engage in it.

5. What??
"And you are a teacher"??!!

Godamighty. I was calling their bluff. Get it? Put up or shut up was my message. Like telling Bush et al that they should damned well be willing to put their own kids in harm's way before they can get by with chest-thumping.

Machismo has to be attacked in a way that the macho fools understand.

6. Please take no offense, none was intended.
You are a teacher and based upon what you posted you were taking care of our kids. You asked them to question their beliefs, unfounded and all. Thank you.

Sick part was that you are in this place. Thank you for standing up and risking all.
