Toomey strikes back

Rep. Pat Toomey's (R-Pa.) campaign disputed on a report in The Hill on Thursday that Toomey's conservative backers — including Steve Moore, president of the Club for Growth — have raised doubts that the conservative congressman can beat Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) in Tuesday's primary.

Mark Dion, of the Toomey campaign, declared: "Specter is clinging to life support. Three polls out this week show this race within the margin of error."

He added: "We are spending more in the last week than all of Arlen Specter's previous primary opponents combined. In addition, Specter spent $7 million in three months to watch his numbers decline."
