Nightline 4/23: Ted Koppell and Secretary of State Colin Powell ... alone
This has real possibilities.

Nightline Daily E-Mail
April 23, 2004

TONIGHT'S FOCUS:

Iraq, the Middle East -- it's a difficult time, and a difficult world these days. Ted will sit down with Secretary of State Colin Powell this evening.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today's note will be pretty short. As regular viewers of Nightline know, much of what we do these days centers on events overseas, and their impact here at home. One way or the other, Secretary of State Powell is involved in every one of these issues. So in a couple of hours Ted and the Secretary will sit down and talk about it all. There's a lot to discuss. I hope you'll join us tonight, and I hope all of you have a good weekend.

1. More opportunity for the enabler to cover his ass?
Hope Ted asks him about Ariana's column.

4. The Coalition's shrinking. Isn't that a Powell failure?
Couldn't be Dumbya's fault.

5. Remember Powell is a lifer! Never disobey the comander!
I still think he spoke to the UN because he CAN'T disobey the Comander in Chief!

Woodward just said about the same thing.

I think he'll play CYA as much as he can, but he won't disobey an order!

7. This interview is a potential award winner ... How will Ted handle it?
ego vs. ego

Or it could end up in that large trashbin of meaningless Nightline episodes.

8. The closing comment was a killer!
Talking about photos of the returning caskets, Ted said that there was nothing wrong with them. It's how they're used.

Cut to a photo of a fireman's flag draped body being dragged away on 9/11. Zoom in on the photo. Run the rest of the political ad which ends with a "Re-elect Bush" mantra.

Ted got him.

13. Consider it a warm-up for the Repug Convention in NYC
Powell may have dodged the bullets. This was an incoming nuke.

11. yes, excellent
. . . I thought Colon Bowel looked like he is having a nervous breakdown. He looked so sad, didn't he? Watch for something cataclysmic, somewhere, sometime pretty soon in BushCo.
