Midge Decter thinks big bombs are more humane

on c-span's Wash. Journal this a.m. she made this lovely statement. (she's the kind of person that leaves a bad taste in your mouth after being in her company.)

she was supposedly on WJ because of her new book on Rummy. Strangely they talked about everything BUT the book.

putting aside the fact that she doesn't mind murdering a lot of people, I'm wondering why she was on to talk about her book but never did????

after she was gone another caller mentioned being shocked by her saying big bombs were humane.

did I hear right? she is Rudy G's mother?

2. I saw her this morning
after one caller declared her "the most CHARMING guest ever on cspan," another caller asked her about Rummy giving Iraq WMD's and she blamed Reagan for it! She said Rummy was just doing his job and Reagan sent him there because they were at war with Iran and "to put it crudely, the US didn't want either side to win. so if you are going to blame anyone, it should be Reagan."

then another caller asked her why so many Jews are Democrats and she said she really didn't know but she suspected it had something to do with FDR. ?????

she's a flake, but she didn't give birth to Rudy G.

Shocking. Not sure that was the purpose of the meeting however.

"In December 1983 Donald Rumsfeld was sent to the Middle East as a special envoy in an effort to jump-start the peace process in Lebanon and advance a presidential initiative for peace between Arabs and Israelis. One of his stops was Baghdad, where he met with Saddam Hussein. That was unusual. Mr. Rumsfeld was the highest-ranking U.S. official to visit Iraq since 1967, when Iraq and other Arab nations severed relations with the U.S., which they blamed for Israel's victory in the Six-Day War. The primary goal of Mr. Rumsfeld's visit to Baghdad was to improve relations with Iraq. But another matter was also quietly discussed. The powerful Bechtel Group in San Francisco, of which Secretary Shultz had been president before joining the Reagan administration, wanted to build an oil pipeline from Iraq to the Jordanian port of Aqaba, near the Red Sea. It was a billion-dollar project and the U.S. government wanted Saddam to sign off on it."

No link, but it is from "Ultimate Insiders", by Bob Herbert, NY Times April 14, 2003

Note, this is a few months AFTER Saddam used chemical weapons (i.e., WMD's) against Iran. Not to worry, I guess...The guy that helped sell weapons to Iran, is not (Correction. Should be "now", not "not") going to be the Ambassador to Iraq. Cute, eh?

3. Midge the mommy...
Spawn of "Alien"

She's married to Norman Podhoretz, the former editor of Commentary. Norman is the father of John Podhoretz (don't know if Midge is his mother or step-mother), the neo-conservative editor and columnist who has worked for the Reverend Moon's Washington Times and the New York Post, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch, who also owns The Weekly Standard and Fox Television. (God, how does he sleep at night?)

Norman and Midge are also the in-law's of of that great American and Iran/Contra convicted/pardoned felon - Elliott Abrams!

5. I think Midge is John's mummy.
The family are all neocons, and support Pat Robinson regardless of his anti-semitism because he supports Israel.

4. Oh that Midge, such a peach
If you havent read "Blinded by the right" by David Brock, pick it up, full of goodies bout ole Midge. Also it's a good primer if you are watching any "opinion" shows, it has a wingnut index.

8. I guess she meant smart bombs.
Less non-combatant casualties thanks to the wonders of hi-tech, that would be the implication. That might be true in some cases (not all), I'd agree, but most of what she had to say was illogical and some of it was just plain ugly.

10. If that's true, then the most-humane thing of all would be to ...
blow up the entire world.
