A refutation of the idea that there is no Free Press in Amerika
It's there, it is just dwindling and dying.

Anyone see last night's Frontline: Son of al-Qaeda?

What a fantastic piece of journalism! It almost brought a tear to my eye because I wasn't sure the Amerikan Press was capable of doing that on TV anymore.

People like to bash PBS here for it's apparent acquiesence to Bushevik Pressure, but they are truly the best we have, faults, flaws and all.

That was Old School Jounralism. If you haven't seen Frontline: Son of al-Qaeda, SEE IT.

Not only interesting and informative, but a clear signal that, though battered and parasitized, the Amerikan Free Press is still capable of coming up big sometimes.

It is nice to sort of "get hit in the nose with the Rolled-Up Newspaper of Reality" when the hyperbole gets too thick and you start falling down the rabbit-hole of absolutism.

Yes, that includes MY OWN HYPERBOLE!

Thoughts? Comments? Criticisms? Flames? What was the best part of the show? Do you think the son was still witholding info (he certainly SEEMED truthful, but we all know that means nothing) or playing his own game?

5. You're going to have to elaborate
How does that thread or that show support your theory?

Have you seen it?

What is your reasoning?

Explain yourself, please, otherwise I am forced to consider your post nonsense or a mistaken link to the wrong thread.

6. The Khadr mother and son and one sister are back in Canada against
a lot of protestation!....She apparently wants to get some good medical treatment for her injured son....She and the daughter sound like crazy zealots....The daughter said she would like to die a martyr "for the cause".....The son Abdurahman, who is the subject of the documentary I have seen several times here on TV and I believe him when he says he's against the aims of Al Quaeda...

7. Discovery has decided NOT to air the show in the US
you need to read the whole thread. The show will not be seen by US audience. The corporate media has made a decision about what we can see, ergo the press is not free from corporate influence.

3. I thought that was a good program too
especially when he said that only 10% of GITMO inmates are associated with Al Qaeda. Makes you wonder how effective the intelligence has been, or whether they just rounded people up based on the fact that they looked suspicious. I wonder if any lawsuits will come out of all the false detentions.

4. There is no free press in America!
You got to pay for it, then you are free to lie, distort and dissemble. That is if you are white, if you are black then the old rules apply.
