how does showing the coffins give away the identity of the families?
The coffins are all draped in flags, unfortunately all of the aluminum tubes look the same. How does it possibly give away the identity of the soldiers?

3. Has that been the claim?
I thought the policy was just to avoid politicizing dead soldiers.

4. It doesn't
bush just doesn't want to public to get a cold slap in the face and have to deal with what's really happening. These are real soldiers, not mere numbers.

6. oh but dont tell anyone that
They wont even consider it. I dont think anyone seems to know that this f**king war is pulling families apart. Noone ever reports it and noone talks about it. I cant even get a small newspaper to run a story about it.

8. NPR
NPR has done several reports on the impact of this war on those left behind. Families having to deal with the stress and strain of loved ones in harm's way, worrying about making ends meet, and how to tell their children daddy or mommy may not come home.

Each story got hammered when they were run. No one wants to think about the tough time they're having.

I think people believe soldiers signed up for this and they should have known what they were getting into. Shameful.

11. Billboards?
Billboards of flag draped coffins along the highways would be effective.

13. I would be happy with a news story
Even if its once a week. Just something to remind people. Im not really talking about the washington post or the ny times, I mean small town newspapers like ours. Is that too much to ask?

I'd certainly want the world to know that my child died from his country. And I'd certainly want people to be able to acknowledge that, even if takes only the time it takes to look at a photographs. Who does he think he's fooling?

Bush and Rumsfeld know this will cause americans to be even MORE negative about the war. It's all about their ratings, the selfish idiots.

15. 9/11 Flag draped coffins are OK in Bush ads
As long as they are for his re-election campaign. That apparently isn't "insensitive" to the "families".

16. And why the hiding of identity sudenly? Is it a shame to lose a loved one
in war? Shouldn't their names be mentioned anyway?
