Poll question: Most well-spoken President of the last 50 years?
I'm not just talking about off-the-cuff speaking, but also delivery of speeches written by others. Which President was/is the best public speaker?

Sorry, kids, Al Gore's not in this one either. :(

1. Kennedy was good,
But the Big Dog had passion.
If only he had answered "That is none of your business" instead of the infamous, "I did not have relations..." on 1/27/97.

3. I've become accustomed to it.
I've been putting up these "Most ______ President of the last 50 years" polls for a few days, and there are always about 4 votes for Dubya*. It's as predictable as a fart at a chili-eating contest.

4. I voted for Clinton, but Kennedy was GREAT too!
The thing that made me opt for Clinton is his time in History. When Jack Kennedy was President, Presidents were actually treated like human beings. When Bill Clinton held office,, he was treated like an accused criminal, by the opposition and the media, but he wtill gave terrific speaches, and remained under control, even under extreme adverse conditions.

7. Nearly a toss-up between
Clinton and Kennedy, but I finally chose Kennedy because I believe he had a little more passion in his speeches.

5. It was actually a toughie:
Kennedy vs. Clinton. But I'll take 'ask not what your country can do for you' over 'what the definition of "is" is.'

6. Kennedy inspired action
Clinton is a good speaker and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, but he never inspired anybody to actually get up off their duff and work for change. Without that, the words are meaningless. Kennedy had it all over Clinton.

11. That's it exactly.
So many people answered his call to service - and even today, when listening to his speeches, one can physically feel his expressions of hope and optimism, or his outrage/moral indignation - or in the instance of his missile crisis address, his calm determination.

He was an intuitive leader who made us want to do better, greater things. It wasn't "what will he do for us?" but rather "what do we need to do".

I feel sorry for those who were/are immune to President Kennedy's powers.

9. You know who else is good but can't be listed because.......
they haven't been President, yet? Hillary. Hillary Clinton is an excellent speaker.

I saw a Demo event in Iowa that Hillary MC'd. She gave a rousing speech before introducing each candidate and she was the bomb! Only her husband, The Big Dog and Mario Cuomo can close to electrifying a crowd like she can.
