Wake up!! Your Government officially controls the press people.
NASA says some "Iraq" photos are shuttle victims
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Several dozen photographs of coffins recently identified by news organizations as remains of U.S. soldiers who died in Iraq are really images from the space shuttle Columbia explosion last year, U.S. space officials said on Friday.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration said up to 73 images posted on a Web site, www.thememoryhole.org, that media organizations used were mistakenly identified as photos of casualties from Iraq.

"Many news organizations across the country are mistakenly identifying the flag-draped caskets of the space shuttle Columbia's crew as those of war casualties from Iraq," NASA said.

Earlier this month the U.S. Air Force released more than 300 photographs on the Internet site showing the remains of U.S. service members arriving at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

The decision to release the images, which depict coffins draped with American flags, were in response to a Freedom of Information Act request.

A NASA spokesman, Bob Jacobs, said newspapers, news channels and wire services have mistakenly identified the photographs.

"Editors are being asked to confirm that the images used in news reports are in fact those of American casualties and not those of the NASA astronauts who were killed Feb. 1, 2003, in the Columbia tragedy," NASA said.

The Web site was no longer accessible.

1. Dover also handled those astrounauts
but those were what SIX caskets.

Anyhow, lets assume for a seocond that NASA is telling the truth... and not being pressured by the administration...

WHY THE HELL DIDN"T WE SEE THOSE CASKETS EITHER... they are also AMERICAN HEROES (and Israeli and Indian,) which reminds me, any Israeli Flag or Indian Flag in that batch?

NOPE.

Our boys are lying AGAIN

2. How is this story going to help them?
Are we supposed to think that there aren't any KIA in Iraq? Or that they're not shipping them home in coffins? The most I can see this story doing for the Bushies is stirring the pot a bit more, and making more of a story of the censorship issue.

Am I stupid, or is Rove losing it?

(I acknowledge the possibility that both statements above are true.)

3. Just more from American Pravda.

With the internet, it is totally transparent when the government lies.

7. The Web site was no longer accessible.
The site is still up.

Being front-page news all around the country is enough to bring any site down.

8. Malarkey-
The astronauts were blown to smithereens.

Of course these are our war dead.

This propaganda exists to cast reasonable doubt concerning the embarressing volume of war casualtys.

Cheap trick! What else is new?

9. NASA is perfectly willing to lie to increase appropriations
Case in point - signs of life on Mars. Second example - that 'science' is done on the space shuttle and the ISS.

The fact that they say these things repeatedly proves that there isn't a single honest person in the upper administration of NASA.

I guess they just guaranteed the mission to Mars.
