I did a little Air America experiment. . .
I went to a radio-business web site discussion group and posted an anti-AA thread.

I took quotes from the Rush Limbaugh, G. Gordon Liddy, Laura Ingraham, and Oliver North shows and changed the names to make them "liberal" (i.e. Rush's calling Chelsea Clinton the "White House dog" I changed to the Bush daughters).

I then posted an outraged statement that radio like this would never succeed in America. All the boobs came in to agree, at which point, I sprung the truth on them and posted all the radio show quotes from the right wing programs -- along with listener statistics -- and asked why there was a double standard.

Liberal hosts, I said, were expected to be civil and polished from day one, while Rush Limbaugh can crack jokes about 14-year-old girls and G. Gordon Liddy can call for people to shoot politicians, and Mike Savage can bitch about "kikes and queers" and Laura Ingraham can say "he's either a homosexual or acts like one" and that's "successful radio."

Of course, my entire thread was deleted and I was banned for "dishonestly hijacking a serious discussion about the radio business." :eyes:

6. What are AAR numbers?

Do they count streamers (like me)? I have it on at least 6 to
8 hours a day.

7. AAR...........

Al Franken said AAR was #1 on the internet in radio stream listeners. I
believe he said they had 2 million people a day listen to their streaming
programs.

8. The last number I heard for streamers was 50,000
The last number I heard for streamers was 50,000.

Is there any independent source which could tell us if the number is closer to 50,000 or 2 million?

10. Here's one
From a professional webcasting indutry blog:

http://www.kurthanson.com/archive/news/041404/index.asp

...And the president of Air America Radio, former radio consultant and programmer Jon Sinton, will stop by to discuss how the network is smashing all records for an Internet simulcast of broadcast radio. (Inside Radio reports today that "The O'Franken Factor" hit a record of 58,000 simultaneous users at one point yesterday.)

12. That can't be a record

58,000 listeners? That's it? The numbers on the first
Victoria's Secret webcast were over 1 million, I'm sure.
Well maybe not, maybe it was 1 million connect requests,
huge numbers probably couldn't connect.

oh well, any rumored numbers on the radio listeners (I believe
that those numbers are not published).

5. Cool, ain't it?
That little technique works every damn time!

First, they feel humiliation; then comes the homicidal rage as they realize their imperial ideology has no clothes.

Savor it!

13. This would make a superb commentary in major newspapers
Especially the ones where you get the people writing in about "the Liberal Media".
