Who'd Really Blame America First?

The Sox game was getting pretty boring last night ... it was 10-2 so I was flipping. I happened to stop on FAUX news, where H&C were on with Pat Boone.

Mr. Whiteshoes was talking about censorship, and how he thought it would be a good thing. Of course, the producers were letting C do most of the attacking (and sheesh, could that guy be any more pale?) but Boone said something that really struck a nerve. I don't recall his exact words, but essentially he said that our movies, music, pornography gave Muslims terrorists reasons to attack us.

So, I ask, who'd really blame America first? We saw that in the immediate aftermath of 9-11, it was Fawell and Robertson. Now Mr. Nosoul has picked up the torch of blaming America. Or, in the misleading words of the RW,"They hate us because of our freedom." Well, I guess the best way to appease them, then, is to give up our freedom. Thank god Asscroft is on top of it!

Anyway, I didn't want this to be so rantish, but wanted to ask if anyone else had good examples of the right blaming America first.

1. I remember Dan Rather on Letterman

Dave asked, "So why do they hate us?"

Dan: "Because they're jealous of our freedom"

or some dumb ass comment like that.

2. Blame

It's not our porn or our movies and music that drive the fundies
in the middle east to hate us, rather its our support (both military
and economic) of many of the regions repressive dictatorships and
our steadfast support of Israel to the exclusion of the plight of
the Palestinians that cause them to hate us. It's certainly not
our "freedom" that they hate. Oh, and they don't want our fast
food culture (or what passes for it) shoved down their throats either.
But that's more of "hate the symbols of American Imperialism" and
not a root cause.

In the case of Bin Laden, his first and foremost beef is that we
have had armed forces (infidels) stationed in the holy land of
Saudi Arabia since Gulf War I. He views them as occupying crusaders
right out of the 12th century. It doesn't help our cause that *
probably believes the exact same thing and isn't very good at
disguising it.

3. Pat Boone

doesn't he look like he is on steroids? And spending more time
in the tanning booth than George Hamilton. Gross.

4. Blame America First?

Actually, it never occurred to me.

I'm just sick and tired of the Conservatives and their Blame-Americans-First attitudes.
