Be afraid, be very afraid...of this mindset in charge of the Bush admin
Edited on Sat Apr-24-04 02:23 PM by Mari333
I know these people, and if you live in the heartland, where I do, they are everywhere. Wal Mart is loaded up with books by Tim Lahaye and revelations crap, Armageddon end times shit it being touted by preachers all over the TV, and pastors in churches are into it too. Whats worse, George Bush and his friends buy into this shit hook line and sinker. This is their base, this is who runs their foreign policy, this is why Ariel Sharon gets away with murder, this exists in my town all over the place, from churches with large signs (10 feet high) with JESUS IS COMING! in large letters, to anti gay rights, anti choice rights, environmental laws being destroyed all over the place, the hope these people have that Israel is in an all out WAR and the Temple Mount is destroyed so Armageddon can come

A lot of these people on the extremist right WANT A NUCLEAR WAR, and when Bush says "we will all be dead" he means it. He is dumb enough to buy into this delusion these people have.

study, peruse, look hard at these sites. I have been studying these people for over 10 years. They exist, they RUN the Bush administration and they RUN foreign policy. They also run domestic policy. They are the most dangerous people on earth right now. And believe me, they have NOTHING to do with Christ.

1. Yes...they are everywhere.
IF a nuke war goes global and the US gets nuked. These people had
better pray that they are wiped out by the nukes...because I will
hunt them down like the varmints that they are.

3. Yes, they are very, very scary.
I do think these people want the "end times" to come, so they will be raptured. That's why they don't care about the environment, running up deficits, anything. I think they truly think some end is quite near, and, if they are proved wrong like people were in the year 999 (the last time people thought the "end" was near), they will just try to end it themselves.

Sometimes I do wish there could be some rapture, so we wouldn't have to live around these freaks anymore!

4. I want to be reincarnated
...as a fly on the wall of the government bunker the day after the nukes have killed us all off, just to see the stupid expressions on all ugly piggy faces as they realize Timothy LaHaye was writing FICTION.

5. I keep telling people this and they don't listen. Well some do.
The rapture people are just as dangerous as Al Quaida. somethings got to be done. Until it is someone needs to start a database where people can submitt information on them. start it now before the trouble starts. They think they've been ordained by God to rule this country and the earth. when they find out they're not going to rule anything they'll go off the deep end. It's best to get prepared for massive head explosions now.

Katherine Yurica is one of us, and a damn good one at that.

From her site:

Today, there’s a foul wind in the air. America stinks of open hatred, arrogance, greed and a lust for power. There’s a smug complacency brought about, no doubt by a sense of personal comfort that deludes millions into thinking that because they belong to the “in” group—hellish results will be visited only upon another class of Americans. So they live without protest, watching the Republican party become the instrument of the religious right, letting freedoms be torn away from the cloth—the very fabric of our country, and they say nothing. They will endure any hardship so long as they do not have to take a stand against the violent and corrupt among us. Satisfied with the twists and turns this country has made in the last two years, the fiddlers fiddle, while America burns its resources, its dollars, its credibility, its young men and women, and the very heart of our Constitution.

With your help, we can and will change the winds blowing in this nation. Liberty and freedom belong to all Americans, not just to a selected elite. Rush Limbaugh and his ilk have spread poison all over America. It’s a worse poison than anthrax or nerve gas. Those poisons will only kill our bodies, but the poison of the right wing talk show hosts and the religious right can and does enslave the souls of a free people and destroys all that is good and pure and noble in this land.

7. You are 100% correct
Before Bush was even selected there was information out there about his beliefs and his born again conversion. People - even the partisans on Air America - don't want to believe it.

In the book The Battle for God by Karen Armstrong, she writes about the dealth cults which were in adundance around the time of the first millenial changover. Something about 3 zeros scares the shit of people and they'll believe anything.

I think we're still seeing the aftermath of the millenium freak out.

12. That's right. They thought they were going to be raptured in 2000
it didn't happen and now they're mad. They had to come up with a reason why it didn't happen so they decided it was that damned mosque sitting on King Solomons Temple. Now they want it blown up so the Temple can be rebuilt so the baby Jesus can come back. They're probably happy as hell Sharon is threatening to kill Afafat. This isn't going away. Their FAKE religious leaders have made too much money and gained to much power from their delusions. These Jim Jones kool-aid drinkers have invested to much of their sanity to go back now. It's only going to get worse. We need to put the spotlight on them. They hide. It's why they've been so successful. Damn that Ralph Reed.

17. www.mille.org has some good papers on the aftermath
and the scapegoating of anger being projected by a lot of people who bought into the Y2K crap. They are mad, and because they went to Israel in 1999 and went and sat on the Hill of Megiddo (they did) and waited for Armageddon, and it didnt happen, they are pissed off.
They are angry because they want absolutes in their lives, and they dont want to look in the mirror and realize they were silly and wrong, so they are pushing for their silly delusions to come to life, forcing it thru foreign policy.
They need to be stopped. And the media needs to quit ignoring the ELEPHANT IN THE LIVING ROOM THAT CREATES THIS INSANE FOREIGN POLICY

8. There is a lot on this site, too:

on edit: Personally, I think that these people are under some kind of mind control, a sort of cultish brainwashing thing. I thought that about the Koresh people, though what happened to them was horrible. I'm not sure anything can be done, except to fortify oneself with truth and tolerance and open-mindedness. What I truly fear is their wish to force everyone to do it their way...or else! This planet has been there and done that. It wasn't pretty.

14. They are all over my town
Ive had many people come up to me, when I was at the peace vigil on bringing the troops home, say "Its the end times" or "Its ordained and jesus is coming back"
they are insane.
Plus, we have a man who stands on our highway here with a cross every day.
Brainwashed indeed. and taking us all to hell in a handbasket with their delusions.

11. how long until they give up and realize their beliefs are bullshit?
can the world survive fundamentalism long enough for these morons to move on to the next fad and the conmen who are foisting this scam on people to crawl back under the rocks where their mothers hatched them?

This is mass hysteria and mental illness. It is a plague every bit as real as the Black Plague, AIDS or Ebola.

16. I agree - it's a really fragile brainwashing
the hardest thing to achieve strongly is to purport Christianity as a religion of hate and violence. It's too easy to refute.

21. i wish that were true
but the conversations I've had with believers lead me to
conclude that this is less like a belief set and more
like an addiction. Almost impossible to root out, although
there are recovered fundamentalists out there.

19. Anything Franklin Graham and the Southern Bapts are into bears watching
Read about the "Kingdom" program at the souther baptist site. I posted this earlier today:

<snip>
The annual meeting will feature "Kingdom Challenge" sermons by such speakers as David Jeremiah and Franklin Graham, singing by the Gaither Vocal Band, and will coincide with the release of "EKG: The Heartbeat of God," written by EKG national strategist Kenneth Hemphill. The book traces the history of God's Kingdom from biblical days through today. <snip>

http://www.sbc.net/redirect.asp?url=http://www.bpnews.net/bpnews.asp?i...

Given what we already know about Franklin Graham(fundy groups in Iraq), PNAC agenda, their Passion for the "Passion" and the southern baptists' "Left Behind" mindset, I think this "Kingdom" talk is pretty creepy.
