Where Bush and his church disagree
All the media focus is on Kerry and the abortion issue (how the Catholic church disagrees with him on that issue).

Well, that's one.

Bush's church (United Methodist) disagrees with him on SEVERAL issues, foremost being the death penalty.

Funny how the media doesn't touch that.

Bush, United Methodists split on some key issues
1/18/01

The death penalty, gun control, education, abortion and Social Security are some of the issues on which George W. Bush's expressed views differ in some measure from official positions of the United Methodist Church as contained in its Book of Resolutions....

1. The only reason Mr. Bush Jr. goes to church is for
Window Dressing. It is difficult to believe that Mr. Bush Jr. can phantom what the gospels are really trying to teach.

2. The Catholic Church agrees with
Kerry on far more. The Church was against this war, the Church is against the death penalty and the Church's stance on poverty and social programs is more in line with Kerry than Bush. The media is using this, the Repukes are using the abortion issue. Where are the leaders of the Catholic Church that should be defending Kerry? I heard Father Greeley the other night on Tweety and he said it was only a couple of conservative bishops that want to become Cardinals that are saying these things about Kerry but the voices from the other side are very quiet or the media is shutting them out because this story plays better for Bush*.

4. Jesus knew the difference between Caesar and god
...and certainly knew the difference between relgion and government, even though the lines blurred more during his time than ours.

It's high time Kerry reminded that nitwit Nigerian cardinal that he is bound by Christ, not men, to render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, and that means respecting the laws as they are.

5. The Difference Is
That the Methodist Church does not decree that all must believe a certain way on social issues. Walk into my Methodist church here in San Antonio and you will find a variety of beliefs on issues such as war, peace, choice, etc. The one one thing that unites us all is that we believe in Christ.

And I must admit that I think somehow saying Bush is not a "real Christian" is getting old. I take him at his word that he believes in Christ and that is what being a Christian means.

7. This may be a little off topic,
but not totally.

I pray that the quadrennial UM General Conference, which will be in session from 4/27/04 - 5/7/04 will be as inclusive as Jesus.

After the Pacific Northwest acquittal of the lesbian pastor, there are likely to be some very contentious moments.

Back on point...the UM Church would certainly never even suggest that anyone should be barred from sharing Communion! That is totally outrageous. That is Christ's Table! Not the bishop's...Not even the Pope's!

8. And they will know we are Christians by the way that we love ...
Sorry, I'm a Methodist and I have yet to see the love. I will not buy that he is Christian by his own declaration, and also not by his deeds. But I will know he is Christian by the way that he loves.

6. 6th Commandement.
If you can play on the fiddle
How's about a British jig and reel?
Speaking King's English in quotation
As railhead towns feel the steel mills rust water froze
In the generation
Clear as winter ice
This is your paradise

There ain't no need for ya
Go straight to hell boys

Y'wanna join in a chorus
Of the Amerasian blues?
When it's Christmas out in Ho Chi Minh City
Kiddie say papa papa papa papa-san take me home
See me got photo photo
Photograph of you
Mamma Mamma Mamma-san
Of you and Mamma Mamma Mamma-san
Lemme tell ya 'bout your blood bamboo kid.
It ain't Coca-Cola it's rice.

Straight to hell
Oh Papa-san
Please take me home
Oh Papa-san
Everybody they wanna go home
So Mamma-san says

You wanna play mind-crazed banjo
On the druggy-drag ragtime U.S.A.?
In Parkland International
Hah! Junkiedom U.S.A.
Where procaine proves the purest rock man groove
and rat poison
The volatile Molatov says-

PSSST...
HEY CHICO WE GOT A MESSAGE FOR YA...
VAMOS VAMOS MUCHACHO
FROM ALPHABET CITY ALL THE WAY A TO Z, DEAD, HEAD

Go straight to hell

Can you really cough it up loud and strong
The immigrants
They wanna sing all night long
It could be anywhere
Most likely could be any frontier
Any hemisphere
No man's land and there ain't no asylum here
King Solomon he never lived round here

Go straight to hell boys
