Am I the only one to notice this? It seems like Kerry is softening on the issues again. he is waffling on Iraq and the Middle East situation. And that softening is showing. The polls showing Bush pulling ahead. I am getting the feeling that now with Dean out of the way, Kerry can go back to softening up and stay in the "mushy middle". He is letting Bush trounce him with his new ads. WAKE UP JOHN, GET TOUGH JOHN! Otherwise lose the election.
Look I will be voting for Kerry in November but he better start taking the gloves off again and start fighting back. Especially he wants to beat Bush.

Just as Al was a dipshit in 2000, Johnnie appears to be just as impotent. x( And when they can't pull their own weight, everybody has to blame somebody else. While the repukes had far more direct action in 2000 and deserved 95% of the blame, everybody chose to bash Nader in the end and ignore everything else. x( x( Even today, everybody would rather get their rocks off from blaming solely Nader. :eyes:
Yes, Nader's a scumbag. DU's proven that with some links pointing to credible information on the guy. But Nader is not the only problem and people prefer to put on some blinders to not see what else is going on.
(Oh, I refuse to vote third party one way or the other. The only way a third partty would win is if our media starts pushing that candidate above the others (fat chance of that, the media's been in bed with the repukes), and we all know that will NEVER happen. America's a slave to its own media...)

6. I respectfully disagree. |
|
Even the most ardent Nader-haters on this board (and I count myself among them) are more than willing to spread the blame around to the various culpable parties (SCOTUS, Jeb and K. Harris, even the lackluster Gore campaign itself.) Despite my low post count, I've been here regularly for at least a year and a half and I don't see anybody bashing nader and "ignoring everything else."

5. I disagree with your assertion ... |
|
I think that rather than seeing the effect of some undefinable evolution to softer positions on issues, what we are seeing is the result of the gushing cascade of greenbacks spent by BUSHCO in the media to counter several months of Democratic Party in-fighting when their boy's (Bushie the Bonehead) shortcomings were the pivot point in each exchange.
John is bristly and, IMO, handles the current crop of gop-tv-"journalist"-hit-men/women with an aplomb not seen since the Big Dog left the scene. His manhandling of Timmy the Body Russert last Sunday was beautiful despite the belated efforts of the corporate media to spin the event to the contrary.
John's a tough one and that is what we need.

9. Harry Turman said something like this. |

If you have a Democrat candidate pretending to be a Republican, the voters will pick a Republican everytime. Somehow, some Democrats forgot that quote.

Off-topic, but how have you been??? Haven't seen you post in ages.
Aren't you nostalgic, from time-to-time, for an old-fashioned Dean-Clark Bashing Thread? :D

This "popular wisdom" of moving to the middle is bullshit. All you got to do is stand FOR something. I knew there was a reason I was disturbed when I heard the "electable" meme.
Give the voters a clear distinction. A blurred line leaves too much to chance. Make the mushy middle shit or get off the pot.

10. Right, we are willing to support him because ABB |
|
and he is not willing to support us. Is that how it goes?
I know he campaigns on the issues that he thinks "Bush is weak in , and there are a lot of them , and mostly does a good stump speech, but I still do not get the impression or the reassurance that he is behind--we the people, the fringe, the liberals and the leftists.
If he does not offer anything more than he has over these few months, I would say that he has abandoned the left in is own party. It may be that we are guilty of wishful thinking when it comes to Kerry. He was not my choice but I though and still think he, as well as all candidates are good people, but for some reason, I keep waiting for KErry to support me and it ain't happening.

difficult to accept the whining. I don't know what you expect everything is not black or white. Save your purism till the election is over. Not every voter thinks the way you do. You only have two choices bush or Kerry. Who do you want and don't split hairs.

"Is Kerry too weak?", "Is Kerry too warlike?", "Is Kerry too Bush-lite?". I'm sure you're asking the question to get reassurence or even looking for education on Kerry. Right. Why not be honest and tell us that you'll vote for Nader or Bush in November? Support them overtly...don't hide behind the "Is Kerry too ________?" posts.

I believe that John Kerry doesn't believe he should commit murder on his opponent when his opponent is busy committing political suicide.....Bush has had a few bad weeks and some VERY bad luck in Iraq...John Kerry doesn't want to interrupt it all......but then I could be wrong.....

20. Don't commit homicide |
|
when your opponent is committing suicide--that's the adage.
Handle the press, spend money keeping yourself defined in a way that'll also bring in hard money later (as he's doing with ads in blue states), and chime in against the current admin now and then in a careful way. Sucker them with your military record on top of that. Then get a VP who will attack as you stay above the fray and let your opponent, hopefully, continue to screw up--see Fallujah in a day or two.
I'm not its biggest fan, but Kerry's strategy makes some sense. It wouldn't be MY strategy--I want to see his teeth in the administration's neck, so to speak. Yet I do see reasons for his approach.
Cheers, Mitch
