Do "Tatoo's on Shoulders and Butt Cracks and Pierced Parts Gross you out?

What's the World coming to? ...as Granny said. :D That "tatoo on shoulder, butt crack" stuff everywhere is grossing ME out and I'm Female! I was at my local mall here in NC today, and was overwhelmed with the change in Southern Culture. When I moved here 10 years ago "Ladies were wearing "gold shoes" and burmuda shorts with stockings. It was sort of weird, I have to say...but interesting.

I moved from the NorthEast and found this quite a culture shock. Now I go to my local mall and see "rings in things, and tatoos and t-shirts everywhere and gelled hair that doesn't look quite clean and a general "frumpiness. Roses and butteflies and squiggly things on their shoulders and on those "low slung jeans" (the low slungs don't bother me because I wore them back when) but there's stuff peeking out the back of these jeans, that I don't need to see. (Our jeans weren't quite "that" low..)

I am having some surrealistic experience here. As a female, I wonder if what "turns guys on today" is different than it was just 10 years ago.

What about the "high heels, and sexy, slinky dress. The hit of "cleavage" in the fourth undone button on the blouse. What about the hint of the "bare shoulder" unadorned and innocent? What about the "hint of perfume" or the "fresh smell of soap" from the freshly showered.

Have Americans females become the "unwashed, tatooed, butt crack exposing, pierced in all parts, gelled hair, unwashed "NEW LOOK?"

Is this why so many guys need Lavitra and Viagra to function?

Or....am I hopelessly "out of touch" and guys really like the "studded, adorned, gummed hair, t-shirted and jeans look of the NEW Millenium? It's grossing me out... but, then, I guess I'm just a "PRISS" at heart.. :D But, seriously...is the "New Look" a BIG turn on?

I have noticed that all the guys who work on cars on the Discovery channel in their various car or motorcycle shows for some reason have tattoos, and also people in porn are usually sporting tattoos. What is up with that.

these hip hugger jeans with the wide belts and the bare midriffs accentuate the hips in some ladies who should not be bringing attention to that part of their bodies. It 'broadens' the view too much, and cuts down on the normally attractive curves. Every woman does not look good with this trend, tho it seems all are doing it.

I don't think it's sexist to say this. Because many males have "things hanging" that might better be disguised.

All of us (except our most "fit and buff" DU'ers) could probably use a turn at "Gold Gym" but i'm a believe in disguising what one can of one's "overindulgences," or little imperfections.... :shrug:

did nothing for me when I wore them in the 70s, and I had (had being the operative word here) a great shape back then. But since I am only 5' 2", they made me look like one of Snow White's side kicks. I'm a teacher, and what I've noticed with my students is that they even roll down the waist bands of their skirts. Many have a tummy roll of fat hanging over. Kind of reminds me of my Uncle Bull (yup that's what we called him) and his big ol' beer belly hangin over the belt. He usually had butt clevage too, as well as a big ol' tattoo on his arm. OMG! Kids today are trying to be my sweet but drunk ol' redneck uncle!

It's not so much the older ones, it's the young ones who still have too much babyfat and no business being in something cut so against their body type.

but I know what I like.

Some appeal to me. I've seen the top of some very interesting tats peeking above the top of the jeans, and have wondered what the rest looked like. Never asked to see the rest, but wondered. I've seen other tats that were pure trash (skulls with blood dripping from the eyes and stuff). IMO: a matter of taste. Who remembers Kurt Russel's tat in Escape From NY? A hooded cobra sticking up out of the front of his jeans.

I don't sport have any tats, but have considered getting one. My girlfriend has a small tat that covers a surgical scar in the swimsuit area from a cancer operation. It is a healing mandala. I love it.

I spent some time working at a place that specialized in stage makeup, and many girls came in looking for make up that would cover tattoos for a wedding they were standing in. A few brides also came in with the same request.

I have never been able to accept hardware sticking out someone's face. I find it nearly impossible to hold a conversation with such a person. Even tongue studs are distracting. I usually find myself avoiding eye contact and looking over their shoulder into space.

23. I can't tell you how much I hate tatoos ... but I'll try.

They mostly just look like bruises to me. I hate it when I see a beautiful body defaced with them damn stupid-ass things. And they are almost invariably stupid. People get tatoos mostly when they're young and dumb. Thus the roses and the skulls and the hearts. BORING. I have known a few artist types that have done some interesting things. I think it's better to go all out with big thematic tatoos rather than the piecemeal boring little "cute" tatoos. But better still to show me a beautiful unsullied body. If I see another redneck girl with a tatoo on her shoulder blade or above the ass crack I think I'll barf. Tatoos send messages. They can be clever or dumb. I don't think dumb is sexy. Don't show me your dumb tatoos.

Despite the desired image as cool and rebelious, tatoos are for spoiled, rich conformists with no taste ... or sense.

I have seen some pretty tatoos but always wonder what they will look like in a few years when the edges start to spread and the colors fade not to mention gravity. The peircing thing is just gross. Yes, I feel old.

27. I have a small ankh tattoo on the inside of my ankle.

I got it about 11 years ago, when I was 21. That's the only one I'll ever get. I do regret it sometimes, but the symbol has meaning for me, and it's so small and I do like how it looks when I wear sandals. I also work in a very non-corporate environment, so it's no biggie. (Even in a corporate office, it isn't a big deal because it's small.)

But I'd never get one on my shoulder, arm or lower back. I don't know why...I just don't like those as much. They only look good (IMO) on certain girls. You almost have to have a rockabilly look to pull them off.

28. My son's second grade teacher

has a tounge stud. When I first met her, I thought, hmmm, wonder what the kids think of that? So I asked her. She said that the kids don't notice it much and the ones that do ask her why she has an ear ring in her mouth. I don't have any, and would only consider putting my kid's names on my arm if I ever wanted to get one. I think tattoos are alright as long as they don't go overboard with it.

38. I'll be 52 in July and

I have one tat on the outer side of my right ankle. This is the one and only tat I'll ever get and I got it in celebration of turning 50. My fiance went with me down to Texas to get it and he likes it. (It's illegal in Oklahoma to tattoo someone.) It's 2+ inches long and can't be seen when I wear jeans which is what I wear most of the time except in summer when I wear shorts occasionally. I still like my tat after 2 years even though up until I actually had it done I never thought I'd ever have a tattoo.

I don't think I'll have much of a problem with it sagging once I get (really) old because it is right above my ankle bone.

As far as all of the other types of tattooing and the piercing of different body parts, I don't like the looks of it. I wouldn't ever get a tattoo on my lower back because I wouldn't be able to enjoy it since I couldn't see it. Also, other people couldn't enjoy it because I refuse to wear hip hugging pants anymore. My 50 year old body isn't cut out to display that much skin even if I am slightly thin for my height.

I also don't gel my hair because I think it looks icky and more importantly it feels icky. I like my hair to feel like hair and not some greasy or gluey mess.

someone dressed in a way that they're comfy with than poured into "high heels, and sexy, slinky dress". High heels are evil and bad for your feet and back.

Oh, and the guys I know...they totally dig my hip huggers and my tats and my body piercing. No Viagra required. :-)
