What happened to Ebert!?!
Edited on Sun Apr-25-04 12:35 AM by Melodybe
First he is thinner than I have ever seen him, and all the sudden he has the balls to call Hollywood out on their bull shit movies. Then he goes and picks really decent movie to say something wonderful about.

I am so glad for him, he really seems on his game lately.

Then he uses his column to defend Howard Stern right to free speech. He also said that he thought Rush was more offensive than Howard.

:kick: for Ebert

4. Fortunately it's a very curable
form of cancer.

Roger Ebert is a good guy, and I believe he's pretty liberal. Every year he comes out to Boulder CO for the CU Conference on World Affairs. Each year he picks a single film to analyze in depth over the course of the whole week. The year that I watched him do that, it was The Silence of the Lambs.

He also participates in many of the panels. Last year I saw him in a panel discussion that also included Molly Ivins. He has always struck me as a pretty impressive guy.

Unfortunateley, I didn't make it to the Conference this year.

Hopefully he will end up completely cured of the cancer.

5. I think he had a stroke.
For awhile it looked like one side of his body was paralyzed.

6. May I also add that he is involved in an interracial marriage.
Married to a beautiful African-American woman and deeply in love. A really good guy, even though I tended to agree with Siskel more when it came to movies.

8. Roger is doing OK. . .
. . .I have worked closely with him over the last 14 years (I am a Chicago based entertainment publicist) and we have a ton of mutual friends who I have been in contact with and they tell me while it was a scare he is doing really good.

10. I love Ebert
you are correct: he is better than ever.

Melody, perhaps you could find another expression to use for courage instead of "balls"? It insinutates male body parts are required for courage which of course we women know is absolutely ridicuouls. :D
