Propaganda, Heartfelt, or something else, Spirit of America (Jim Hake)
I found this ad on Josh Marshall's TPM and I gotta say it bugs me a bit... I mean what is wrong with this picture (metaphor)

http://www.spiritofamerica.net/
"Air Force Chaplains Seek Help for Schools and Orphanages in Kirkuk, Iraq"

<snip>Request for supplies, clothing and toys to "bring smiles to those who haven't smiled in a while."<end snip>

I dug further into this organization and found that a guy named Jim Hake runs the show. Apparently he's using Bloggers throughout the country to pull in donations. His big goal is to garner 100,000 bucks for TV equipment for the Iraqi's.... But there's one caveat for an Iraqi to get this equipment.

<snip>
I'm not sure why VOA hasn't been involved, but Jim Hake, Spirit of America and the 1st Marines have stepped in to pass a more accurate message to the Iraqi people. Their request is entirely reasonable: broadcast criticisms if you like, but no anti-Coalition propaganda, and in exchange you receive new equipment.

I think before I donate any money to Hake and the Marines that they many want to stop doing this...
