Closet athiests?

I'm not talking about people that believe in god, but don't act within the boundaries of "christianity" or whatever. I'm talking about people that believe it's all a sham, but go to church etc, simply because you can't get elected to a signifigant office because of the prejudice against people that don't believe in god.

any idea?

4. I think most of them
are fake - I use to think that about GW, but after his comment about a higher father - I don't know what to think - except that he is a freaking nut case....

6. i suspect lieberman is the only one who actually believes
although he, too, wears it on his sleeve (or head, as it were), i suspect all of today's politicians view religion far too opportunistically to be actual believers.

for them, religion is a matter of votes, not faith or conscience or practice.

7. A majority..........
to be sure. They know where the real power lies. It's behind the gates of the White House, not the Pearly Gates.

8. I think Jimmy Carter is genuine
All his work with Habitat for Humanity at least points to the fact that he is a truly caring person.

11. his acts show his beliefs
I'm trying to think of another politician who does the same to even half the degree Carter does. I'll post it either when I come up with it. Please do not hold your breath until then.

13. Jimmy Carter has taught Sunday School for many years.
I think his religious faith is genuine and he honestly strives to live it in his daily life.

Has the chimp ever described his "higher father"? I suspect he has horns and a tail.

the rest of the charlatans in training just haven't had the naivety sucked out of them yet. It will happen eventually and they'll learn the virtues of fakery, the phony smiles, and scams.

12. Isn't it part of the package
politicians have to present to voters in order to be elected? It just seems like they all have to show the "holier than thou" face to the public to have any chance of being elected.
