Starts out interview stating people are seeing the book in two ways: some think it's a stinging indictment, others see it as proof of Bush's great leadership style.
Woodward is, to me, playing both sides of the fence--and a lot of what he concludes is in BushCo's favor.
He just said Bush is in charge; more than a strong leader. He says "I think Powell believed" what he said (when Powell presented forgeries to the UN). Woodward said yesterday, he believes that BushCo believed there were WMD.
This is all a bunch of bullshit. The key indication of this is Tim Russert looks happy as a lark during the interview.
This book is a joke.

1. Now he says Bandar didn't make a deal with Bush over oil |
|
in contradiction to his sixty minutes claim. This man is a master of doublespeak.

4. sounds to me like he discredits himself.... |

just another attempt of a bush supporter wearing a non-partisan burka, always hiding something, those bushies...and it's always the truth.

5. And the White House recommends the book? That says it all |
|
Tim Russert could never win a poker game by the way. He's such a whore. He can barely contain himself when interviews go in BushCo's favor.

6. Woodward is also playing a very clever game. |
|
He is masterful at playing a kind of Colombo role where he impersonates an over-the-hill bumbling kiss-up, while the pose enables him to get his subjects to trust him, to open up, thinking they're using him when he is really using them. He's much smarter and more cunning than he appears. The fact that he launched his book with Mike Wallace on 60 minutes gives some hint of where his own direction points.

I think it is probably an accurate representation of what happened.

8. How is it "accurate"? It identifies behaviors that lead to one conclusion |
|
Edited on Sun Apr-25-04 10:44 AM by linazelle
and the author explains away those conclusions with "I think they believed" explanations. Let their actions speak for themselves.

9. He is an outright liar: "he didn't deliver on the gas prices - high |
|
when days before he told Wallace: "price may be high now - but can be lowered on a dime - right before the election"
