Here's a question for the "liberal" media: Where's the march coverage?
I just trolled through multiple news channels. NO March on Washington coverage whatsoever. NONE.

Several hundred thousand women march for reproductive freedom, and nobody thinks it's worthy of any press recognition?

What do you all think?

1. I was just looking for it myself. You'd think CSPAN would have it

2. "several hundred thousand"
Was it really that many? Or even tens of thousands?

If so, then there is only one possible interpretation of the press silence: it proves that we have indeed reached the levels (depths) of Pravda press.

3. The organizers were preparing for over half a million
>Was it really that many? Or even tens of thousands?<

There were people planning to be there from 53 different countries and all fifty states. Of course, :eyes: I'm sure all media outlets were told that this was a "non-story" and to not encourage those uppity women. After all, why should we have any control over our bodies whatsoever?

4. No Coverage And No Liberal Media !

I have been checking CNN, MSNBC, and FOX, no coverage of the march.

I heard they were expecting 750,000 marchers, probably closer to a million,
of course the liberal media will report this right ?

Ha, Ha, Ha, wrong !

5. Nope...

On top of them being conservative hacks, it isn't filled with sex and scandal so why cover it?

It will be in a couple of papers tommorrow on page A22.

6. Well maybe we should all ask
where the coverage is. Mention that they shouldn't falsify the numbers also. That is what I plan to do.

8. eeww--Karen Hughes! 2 minutes on the march,
10 minutes letting Karen promo her Bush kissing book.

"Clearly the President is making the world safer!" Yeah "BushWorld" as Maureen Dowd calls it!

13. Not Real Coverage......

You are right that CNN just showed a minute or two of the march, but it was
just an update type of thing, it was not real coverage.

On top of that they said the crowd was 250,000, you know that's a lie, it's
usually double or more what they report.

None of the cable news channels is showing any real coverage of the march, maybe
they will later in the day, but as of 12:30 pm here in Peoria there has been no real
coverage of the march at all.

9. I thought SURELY the events of the day would be covered on C-Span.
Good grief.

This topic must be hotter with the right-wing media owners than we realized. Looks as if they're determined to choke off almost all coverage, as if it never happened.

This sounds exactly like the behavior of the Venezuelan media when the poorer people who elected Hugo Chavez learned their President had been kidnapped and took to the streets in protest in great numbers.

The media REFUSED to acknowledge it.

10. C-SPAN has message "March coverage starting shortly"
It was supposed to start at 1:00PM EST I thought, but I know C-SPAN doesn't stick to an on-hour schedule like to other chanels.

Since tey do have the annoucement shown on the screen, I'm susre it will be there.

12. Nothing. And this is the only thread on the march I see at DU
I am leaving now for our own march in So Cal. I know Santa Barbara had at least 37 going. I had to cancel myself because of a conference at work.

Keep going, keep speaking out, FAILURE IS IMPOSSIBLE!

15. C-Span coverage live now (1:36 p.m. EST)
Edited on Sun Apr-25-04 12:40 PM by LizW
It hasn't started yet, but they're showing everyone milling around. Music's playing. A senior couple just walked by the camera and waved their signs saying "Old people for choice!" :D

Edit to say: Aaargh! They cut away to show Cheney at a National Right to Life event! Jeez Louise!
