A disturbing post by someone who just got back from Iraq...
Its from another site that I visit under the "rant and rave" section. Frankly, the responses to his post were just as disturbing.

Hello I just got back from Iraq

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would just like to say that what you're reading in the media that everything is alright is very skewed.

I am bound by contracts and cannot divulge where i worked but as soon as we get out of there the better.

No amount of money is worth it. I've had a few buddies of mine die at the hands of Iraq and i still wake up at night screaming at the things i've seen.

I've seen little children with their heads blown clean off, i've seen GI's walking around with missing arms and not realise it, i've seen mothers holding dead babies trying to revive them, i've seen cars with brains on the seats, i've seen things which i cannot forget.

I've read some of the posts here and i'm truly ashamed for my fellow Americans. You civilians really have no idea whatsoever.

This will probably be my first and last post.

God help us all for what we have done to these people.

2. The photographs posted last night confirm what he's saying.
None of our soldiers will sleep easily for the rest of their lives. We've made them into murderers. They aren't defending us or our freedom as they went in believing.

How does any paper show an image of Bush without the blood?

4. This needs to be passed around.
Especially to the "liberal" media and demand an explanation as to why they aren't reporting these atrocities.

9. Anyone who says they did not know that this is what is going on
...is either a fool or a liar. Look at the soldiers eyes when they come home. Not the fake for the camera smiles that CNN shows when they see their families. Just look at their eyes. I have seen the same blank stare in the eyes of soldiers when they came home after other wars.

10. Two concerns:
Edited on Sun Apr-25-04 01:00 PM by chaska
1) Was this from a right wing sight? He's condemning hawks in his post, right? Trying to ascertain who the poster is ashamed of.

2) Is there any way of confirming that this poster isn't just one of us pretending to be a vet?

Not critisizing, just trying to nail down the facts.

11. I'm not even sure he is or was a vet...
...he mentions "contract"...he could have worked for KBR, Blackwater or one of the civilian contractors. He could still have seen what he says he saw as a civilian.

13. Aborted fetus and coffins of the returning dead
Just another field report in the Age of Irony:

The Religious Right carry around huge posters which show bloody aborted fetuses, to shock people into rejecting this procedure being used for any reason at all.

But the Pentagon and the WH has issued a decree that We The People should not be allowed to see photos of the coffins of our fellow Americans returning from Bush's War. That we should not view images of our fellow Americans, maimed or dead. That we must not see images of dead Iraqis. We're just supposed to be see pictures of happy brown children greeting an American GI (I am not making this up -- this is an image with which an Army recruiting commercial from a year ago ended).

Now WAIT a minute -- *we're* supposed to be the scared chickens, the appeasers, the people who are too frightened to deal with grownup reality -- but the people who issue these decrees seem to me to be the chickenshits -- they refuse to face the consequences of the war they prayed for for years, that they plotted for months, and which they pushed onto the world in weeks. THEY were the ones drooling in anticipation of Armageddon and the Second Coming of Christ. WHY THEN are they so CHICKEN and "unmanly" about We The People seeing the effects of their policies and hopes for America? Did they think Armageddon was going to be a Jerry Bruckheimer flick that they could watch from a safe distance, as LIEbral "traitors" like you and I suffered and burned at the hands of our terrrorist enemies and were dispatched to hell for eternal suffering?

Hey -- THEY wanted Armageddon -- and now they got it -- so I think it's about fucking time that they own up to it, and be "manly" and "macho" and "tough" and "resolved" to take it on the chin from their fellow Americans, which include the opposition to the war as well as the loved owns of those serving, and take the full brunt of our anger, our shock, our horror, our outrage -- because it is THEY who desired this outcome. We will LOOK at these images. We will THINK about what they have brought upon our nation. We will IMAGINE a better world, a better way. And will we FIGHT them, FIGHT their madness, for all that matters in life.
